iPhone call volume low

I had a problem with extremely low volume on my Iphone 6 - SOLVED!.
Other functions like, speaker, bluetooth were OK.
The solution was a big surprise to myself - since I was sure it was SW or a setting somewhere.
I carefully cleaned the little slot in the glas in the frontside of the phone where the sound comes out in normal use. I used a little piece of cotton with a little water/soap for dishwashing - do not soak it in water - did this app 5 times. I then used alcohol - did this app 5 times.
I almost cannot believe the change it did ;o) I had to adjust the volume down again.
So in my case it wasn't SW or settings - but simply dirt (not visible to me) that had to be mechanically remowed.

I have the same problem on 11.1 was fine until I upgraded last week on my 6s+... now it is so low I have to use speaker phone to hear phone calls..
Yes I have adjusted the volume with the buttons on the side andlooked in settings and restarted phone nothing has changed...
I am with you! Apple seems to have a big issue with volume during calls! Look at the long list of people having this issue! We have an iphone 6 plus and 7 plus, both not suitable for making a proper call. And all the tips (which looks like a recurring list of the same tips) do NOT seem to help (at least for me). You have to switch on the speaker and shout out your lungs during calling, which is also very nice for the environment. And even worse, also handsfree calling in your car suffers from this issue! In general, if you want a mobile for calling, buy another brand! Iphones are nice for texting, facebook and making photos (not the best, but ok), but not for making a call!
Having same issue with iPhone7 - tried everything I know how to do (in settings, using volume buttons, etc). Phone is pretty much useless without speaker or btooth accoutrements.
HELP US PLEASE, APPLE!!
OMG, I thought, I am the only person having in-call hearing problem with my iPhone 5s.. I was about to sell it and move onto Android. Previously, everything was ok.. but after update suddenly this problem started. I check the in-call volume - which is full (max white bar) but still not able hear clearly. For now, I am living with headphones whenever I've to call - its working fine. Till Apple help us, you help yourself by using headphones. 🙂
Here you can see how to fix this problem, Watch bellow video on youtube and follow exactly what it is showing on the video, please like and share that video. I fixed more than 20 iPhone with this trick.

I'm experiencing the same issue with the iPhone 6. It happened after a an update to ios 11.x (I can't pinpoint the exact update, since there have been several). I spent two hours in chat with Verizon support and we tried everything, including resetting to factory settings and replacing the SIM card. Nothing worked. I have the latest ios installed 11.2.6, but the issue began back in one of the early 11 updates.
With all these people experiencing the same problem, you'd think Apple would respond and at least acknowledge the issue. The fact that they haven't speaks volumes about the company (pun intended). If there's not a fix for this forthcoming in the next month, I'm going back to using an Android. Might not be a bad thing to do regardless. The problem with the battery and now this--I know they'd love for us to opt for a new iPhone as a solution, but I refuse to do that. There's nothing in the 7 or 8 that gives me reason to upgrade. I simply want a phone that does the one thing a phone is supposed to do: allow me to hear the other side of a phone conversation.
Apple, why are you remaining silent about this? Or maybe you've already answered and we just can't hear you?
I have the same issue with my Iphone 6S Plus. I have re-installed IOS, even got a different blue tooth ear piece. I can listen to podcasts no problem on my blue tooth ear piece, in fact I have to turn down volume when listening to podcasts but when I receive a call or make a call I have the volume turned all the way up on phone and blue tooth ear piece and I have a hard to to hear the person I am talking to.
I am on IOS 11.2.6
Yes, too low, and good with AirPods or headphones... Sound throttles up and down when I connect to my Chevy Traverse MyLink infotainment system via Bluetooth. The volume going up and down at random makes it impossible to listen to music or navigation... I have iOS 11.2.6. My son has not updated iOS and it works fine.
I don’t think it’s a hardware issue. There are too many repeated problem complaints with the iOS update to 11 series so I’m interested to know if sending it out for repair resolved the problem. If so, what iOS are you running?
Between conversations with other iPhone users, I’m starting to feel like it’s deliberate too... forcing people to buy new phones and the existing ones are not paid off yet. Canned replies from Apple are not helping. Of course we checked volume settings and such... why would we have to reinstall ... if software can cause the trouble, then software can fix it too. Apple, please send update for resolution.
I don't think they necessarily lied to you. Maybe your particular phone does have a hardware issue. As someone else asked, did you have them repair it; and if so, is it working now?
Another possibility: maybe they didn't lie to you, but they didn't tell you the whole truth.
If all these people experiencing the same issue after an upgrade to ios 11 (myself included) are indeed having a hardware issue, then it must be an issue that was aggravated by the ios 11 update, which I'd find very hard to believe. And if it turns out that all these people (probably only the vocal few among hundreds or more of other people) are having the same hardware issue, then Apple did not manufacture a reliable phone to last more than a couple of years. We pay extra for the Apple brand and quality.
I will not buy another iPhone until Apple addresses this problem, either with a fix in the next ios update, or a public admission that their hardware is failing is mass numbers. Also, keep in mind that when Apple says the problem is affecting only a "handful" of people, when you consider how many phones they sell, a "handful" could be thousands of users.

So, you think they lied to me at the Easton Store in Columbus?
She is just jabbering the party line. Most Apple geniuses are as dumb as... and have no idea there are hundreds if not thousands of people affected. The genius do not look at the forums and don't keep up with what's really going on. They are generally just kids that have a script to follow. ...let me have a look, no not a software problem, must be a hardware problem, we can replace your speaker for $150....
Some may indeed have hardware errors, but the problem affects several versions of the iPhone including: 7/7+, older 6s, 6 and 5SE phones and all after an iOS 11.x upgrade. Look if you believe in coincidence and the tooth fairy I have a bridge in London to sell if interested.
Apple show time and time again they have no interest in pursuing genuine issues in a timely (if at all) manner. It may be fixed in subsequent updates of iOS (the problem with my iP6 has been at least 2 iterations of iOS so I'm not holding out). The biggest company in the world is more interested in animating poo emojis than fixing genuine technical issues which shows where the leadership (and I use that word loosely) is at.
back on track, anyone have a fix yet?
I connect to my car via Bluetooth and sound volume is normal. Before 11.3 I had to go to my car to hear something from phone(volume was too low even set to maximum), after 11.3 update it got better, but sometimes I have to focus what is other side saying or move to less loud environment.
I have this similar problem with my iPhone 7 when I had bought it last year in March the volume was fine on the top earpiece speaker but after the update to iOS 11 the earpiece speaker sounds muffeled. The call volume has gone down drastically.I had this problem with my iPhone 5s earlier which I had to sell off.
Yeah bro...I thought at first that the problem comes when I updated the software to iOS 11.3.1 so I waited until iOS 11.4, but there’s no difference with the volume at all....I thought apple is aware of this problem ....but it’s obvious they are not aware with it....and I did a lot of things to solve this but not touching the inner hardware.....I think we should keep posting problems until they figure it out....when I first buy my iPhone X the call volume was amazing...you can hear very well through the earpiece...and when I set the volume to the max at first the voice was clear from almost 20 inches away from the earpiece.
Even if Apple allowed you to downgrade the firmware to iOS 10,it might not solve the problem as the upgrade to iOS 11xxx could have caused a permanent damage to the earpiece.Apple is keeping quiet about this and I know they are keeping a close on this discussion. If they admit to this flaw in the iOS 11 firmware then they will have to replace or repair thousands of iPhones affected by this problem.A few months ago they had admitted that they were throttling performance of iPhones with older batteries and had to replace batteries at a discounted price. What Apple doesn’t realise is that thousands of people in the world are reading these comments and they will think twice before buying the next iPhone. It is not doing their reputation any good.
