iPhone call volume low

After ios11 upgrade my iPhone call volume has decreased it is difficult to hear or take calls if I’m out or if I’m at busy place

I had a problem with extremely low volume on my Iphone 6 - SOLVED!.

Other functions like, speaker, bluetooth were OK.

The solution was a big surprise to myself - since I was sure it was SW or a setting somewhere.

I carefully cleaned the little slot in the glas in the frontside of the phone where the sound comes out in normal use. I used a little piece of cotton with a little water/soap for dishwashing - do not soak it in water - did this app 5 times. I then used alcohol - did this app 5 times.

I almost cannot believe the change it did ;o) I had to adjust the volume down again.

So in my case it wasn't SW or settings - but simply dirt (not visible to me) that had to be mechanically remowed.

Me too. I tried reaching out to Apple about it and they insist that it’s not a software issue and after testing and saying it’s not a hardware issue still wanted to send me to a technician to further check my phone and then I would have to pay for what they find wrong. I have troubleshooted every possible way and I know there are many others with the same issue. It can’t be a coincidence that so many people have the same issue after a software update. I refuse to pay for something they need to get right. I’m almost tempted to switch to Android. Lol. Look at just this one post and how many people have the same problem.

Hi,

I had the same problem with low volume in ear speaker on a iPhone 7. Have tried almost everything in this thread including replacement of ear speaker itself without any success. Then I accidentally broke my screen. After replacing the screen the ear speaker volume is normal again. Strange but true. I did the replacement by my self and I did only replace the screen including digitizer. Anyone who has any clue why it did start working after the repair?

Hi, I have an apple 7 plus. Same problem. Since IOS 11 impossible to hear someone during a call because the volume is very low even if it indicates maximum. I have to turn on the speaker

i do have the same issue after upgrade to iOS 11 . call volume on ear is very low but speaker/bluetooth/headset are all good.

I have the same issue on my iPhone X and after spending $1.2K for this I’m not too patient for any of these issues. Need Apple on this one...

After upgrading to 11.2.5 - I feel its better than the previous one. I am able to hear little clear than earlier.

Hope, others are benefited as well. 🙂

Mine phone call sound level got improved(not fully fixed) after 11.3 update. So I'm sure it's a software problem...

Cannot hear well within voice call.

Earplug + bt works fine.

It is annoing
