Sleep Wake Failure: Reboots only after upgrading to High Sierra

Run this command:

$ sudo pmset -b standby 0

You will have to enter your password.

This has been suggested as a solution to the original problem of this discussion amazingly enough.

Still give it a try. I give it about a 1 in 4 chance of making any difference at all :-)

Hi guys . I had this same problem with my Imac. But after I disable the wireless function and connect my Imac through ethernet, I have not had the reboots again as I did days ago. Try to see if that works for them. Greetings and Happy Holidays!

Strangest thing, Last night mine finally started acting up and showing three things keeping system awake - AND this is ONLY after changing my settings back and forth to see if they would change for some one else. I also, placed and moved some files in SHARED.

Hi guys . disable the wifi function in your computer. Connect via ethernet and you will see that it will not make you reboot anymore. The same thing happened to me. After I did this I have not had that problem anymore. Greetings .🙂

So you keep saying, Oli, but what is the point of having a laptop or any computer with wifi capabilities where you don't use the wifi? And I don't know about you, but my computer is nowhere near an ethernet cable.

Meanwhile, like others, I have not had this problem reoccur since the first two times. All I did was a NVRAM reset and I have been fine ever since.

I hope others are as successful as I am.

Hi. Like I said disabling WiFi do not work. I already did that. I disable WiFi at night and in the morning when I wake my iMac same error happens. I can’t find a pattern for this error. For example, after made a fresh install of macOS 10.13.2 this error never happens during one week and with WiFi always enable. After that sometimes I had 2 Wake Sleep Failures in one day! In the past two days I do not have any error and wifi is always enable. In my opinion it is an issue related with kernel and ram! With Sierra this error never happens!

I use Linux and macOS. At this moment I am studying the possibility to buy a Ryzen PC and use Linux as my main operating system. I sold my MacBook Pro late 2013 to buy the 2017 model. Well, even the 13’‘ MacBook Pro has a crazy price for the machine. My iMac late 2012 will be my last Apple Desktop. I will buy the Dell Inspiron 27 7000 as my desktop and a Dell XPS 15’‘ as my laptop. Look, I have iPhones, iPads, MacBook Pro and iMac. I spent lots of money on this machines and these type of errors are not admissible! By the way, I also will sell my iPhone SE and buy one Oneplus one 5T. Goodbye Apple.

Please fix it Apple, take care of this bug ASAP, not impressed with High Sierra, looks like some High People worked on it...

I"ve just installed 10.13.3 in hope that Apple have addressed the sleep restart problem. I like others have installed High Sierra many times after updates and advice on this discussion. The computer woke from sleep correctly this morning but only time will tell. I've searched but cannot find what Apple have done in this latest beta release, perhaps one of you guys can tell me?

I too am on 10.13.2 and still have the issue. High Sierra upgrade did it. For me, disconnecting my 2nd monitor seems to prevent this from happening, but I prefer 2 monitors. Sent dozens of error reports to apple and no response. Not going to try the many work-arounds on this thread as it is clear that nothing apple proposed works. They are just guessing.

My mid-2014 MacBook Pro recently started doing this a couple of times a day. I have a Sphero BB-8, and had plugged the charging base into one of the USB ports on my Thunderbolt Display. That was the only thing that changed recently, so I unplugged it. Problem solved.

All I did was check the Energy Saver settings in System Preferences. The Display Sleep and Computer Sleep setting had defaulted to 15 min. I left Display Sleep at 15 min and moved my Computer Sleep to 3 Hours (then to Never -- it Sleeps when I tell it to sleep!). Problem seems to have stopped.

The same problem - MacBook Pro 13 Retina Mid 2014 11.1 with Aura Pro X SSD. Never had this problem on Sierra. On High Sierra when computer goes to sleep for more than 3h I have two times boot sound and apple logo and system boots from scratch.

Hey Everyone. I have had this problem for about a month now. So I finally got fed up, Googled and found this thread.

Here is my sleep wake failure w/ system config. According to the only reply I've seen: Turning wireless off might solve the problem. I appreciate the solution, I will try it. But I am not going to run an ethernet cord across half the house permanently. Apple: Ball's in your court. FYI: Your iPhone software is getting wanky too. What's the deal?

Hello everyone, I have had the same problem and it's frustrated me no end, as up until the update my MAC has worked perfectly. I have now got it working back to normal, and a lot faster I must add.

I contacted Apple, they suggested trying all of the above, I refused to do a complete re install, for the simple fact when it updates you may get the same problem. Apple told me it's third party Apps that may have caused the problem, that's why they may have missed the fault when testing the update.

Anyway, to fix it I did the following. You must do this with caution as there maybe some files your MAC may need in my case it was OK. So please don't do the following unless you are absolutely sure you know what you are doing.

Click on your desktop

Click "Go "

hold "Alt" and open library

Move to trash the contents of the following folders.

Caches

Cookies

Launch Agents

Then in Also

Go

Computer

Mac HD

Library

Caches

Once done, reboot.

If everything appears to be working OK. Empty the trash. (you'll find there to be a lot of files it may take a while.

I have a MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014) and after upgraded to High Sierra 10.13.2, I had a similar issue. My MAC do not wake up from sleep 😟 I always need a reboot to open the device and all my works has gone 2-3 times. Apple should not blame third parties or whatever. If 10.12.X has no problems and the same configuration with 10.13.X high sierra has problems, Apple should release an immediate fix. We are not paying these high prices for shine screen and dummy siri, we need a stable operating system. (Clean installation or other re-install options cannot be applied to my system. I have critical software installed and also had a limited time. )
