If you type the letter “i” and it autocorrects to an “A” with a symbol - Apple Support
This is happening to me as well and just randomly started on Oct. 31 at 12:30 pm ET or so (not immediately after an update or anything). I’ve tried resets, both on the phone and just the keyboards, taking out the emoji keyboard, etc. It is driving me crazy! See screenshot below.
Still having this issue. Also use my phone for business and yes it is embarrassing but l have noticed a lot of others having this issue. I’ve reset my phone, updated my software, and tried anything I’ve seen offered as a solution here with NO AVAIL. But getting pretty good at trying to avoid using the letter. In some cases l have used lower case L like l have in this post 😂
Mine is actually eating other words, too. It’s eaten “FB,” “1030PM,” and other random words. I can’t see it, but my recipients are sending screenshots of my messages with gaping holes where words should be. Started at the same time as the “i” substitution.

I am having the exact same problem as all of you. Any word from APPLE on why this is happening? It's really annoying.
My issue started while on iOS 11.0.3 on an iPhone 7 Plus.
I am about to update to 11.1 and will report back.
I have had the update for a while my keyboard started doing that with the letter I Sunday ! I’ve tried resets and it doesn’t work still.
Please send an update to this! Mine started doing this yesterday. I use my phone for business and Ithus embarrassing!!!

After I updated my cell it started doing the same thing.
This issue started on Halloween before doing the 11.1 update. Completed the 11.1 update this morning hoping it might fix the issue but no luck.

Turning off autocorrect works BUT I need autocorrect. APPLE NEEDS TO FIX. i havent uodated either. Look at these spelling errors! Ugh
Did you try the fix in the link in the posting just before your own?
Can’t type the letter I️ , showing up weird. A little box or the letter A and a question mark inside of a box.
