How can I clear ram/cache thingy on iPhone X or can I?

It was done by holding down the power button until the swipe to power off prompt appears, and then pressing the home button.

Used it for plenty of things, can’t I do this on iPhone X now lol?

Anyone know how to do this on the iPhone X?

Thanks in advance

After giving up, since I can’t find anyone on the internet who knows the answer to : how to clear ram on iphone x (like on 7 or 6) ?, I finally found/figure out the answer.

The key is:

1) the “slide to power off” screen

2) and the home button

Steps:

1) go to the “slide to power off” screen by:

Settings app -> General -> scroll down and click “Shut Down”

2) then click and hold down the “Home” button.

Yes, I know. There is No PHYSICAL/mechanical home button on the iphone x. But it is still there.

So where is the “Home” button? Just in case you forgot, it is available through:

Settings app -> General -> Accessibility -> AssistiveTouch -> Enable AssistiveTouch -> Customize Top Level Menu... -> Make sure “Home” is set to one of the icons -> and there you have it.

I can finally clear the ram again just as I do before.

The reason for doing it, is a totally different topic.

You must add the home button to your iPhone X first. Go to settings, general, accessibility, then assistive AssistiveTouch and turn that on. Then go back the settings/general and scroll to the bottom, press shutdown. Then press and hold the home button added to clear ram just like older iPhones. The screen should look like you’ve taken a screenshot almost and go back to general. Hope this helps.

And it's pointless, a waste of time (both yours and the phone's), uses more battery energy than just leaving everything in place, has ZERO benefit. But if you enjoy doing pointless things, go for it.

That method was an old geek's tale, it actually did not clear out RAM. You can clear out RAM by doing a Forced Restart which was outlined above but there is rarely a need to do so unless something has gone wrong with the operations of the iPhone.

Thanks deggie, that was my understanding when I first answered. Sometimes folklore somehow finds its way to become fact in some circles.

First you have to add the accessive touch feature to act as the home button. (Settings/ general/ accessibility’s/ accessive touch/ on). Once you have the accessive touch on, you quickly press the volume up, volume down, then hold on the power button. After the “slide to turn off” appears, you click on the accessive touch, then hold the home button at the bottom of the accessive touch. Your welcome :)

First you have to go to settings, general, accessibility, then assisstivetouch. Turn it on. It brings a home button to the bottom right corner of your screen. Then go back to the general settings screen. All the way at the bottom is “shut down”. It will bring up the screen to swipe to power off. Hit the button at the bottom right. A box pops up. Then hold the home button like you would on older iphones

I know this is an old post but I know what you're looking for. To clear all of the apps in the background.

How this is done on the X is on the home screen swipe up from the bottom but stop halfway while keeping your finger on the screen. All of the used apps will show. Now, unlike the iPhone 6, 7 once the apps show you can't just swipe them away. If you try to swipe the home screen will just show up again. Instead of swiping on the app to close it long press it. This will bring an X on the corner of the apps to close each one separately.
