It was done by holding down the power button until the swipe to power off prompt appears, and then pressing the home button.
Used it for plenty of things, can’t I do this on iPhone X now lol?

After giving up, since I can’t find anyone on the internet who knows the answer to : how to clear ram on iphone x (like on 7 or 6) ?, I finally found/figure out the answer.
The key is:
1) the “slide to power off” screen
2) and the home button
Steps:
1) go to the “slide to power off” screen by:
Settings app -> General -> scroll down and click “Shut Down”
2) then click and hold down the “Home” button.
Yes, I know. There is No PHYSICAL/mechanical home button on the iphone x. But it is still there.
So where is the “Home” button? Just in case you forgot, it is available through:
Settings app -> General -> Accessibility -> AssistiveTouch -> Enable AssistiveTouch -> Customize Top Level Menu... -> Make sure “Home” is set to one of the icons -> and there you have it.
I can finally clear the ram again just as I do before.
The reason for doing it, is a totally different topic.

I've tried this already no luck. As well after your post tried again and different types variations still no luck. I'd like to see a video of this so I can differentiate were I'm going wrong.

I can confirm that this method actually did clear RAM, because apps that were open in the foreground would force quit, and the app that I used to monitor RAM usage would report much less used
Not asking how to close apps... that’s pretty available information that wouldn’t require a forum topic. We’re asking how to force clear the RAM, read the previous posts...
