Day one and a bright green line has appeared down the right side of the iPhone X. Anyone else having this issue?
iPhone X, iOS 11.1
Hi all
Same issue popped up on Jan12 after very normal (boring) use of the phone ie no shocks, no falls, no extreme temperatures, phone in a case and with a glass screen protection since day 1
Took 7 days to get an appointment at a 'Genius' bar where they offered to replace the screen when i asked for an exchange for a new unit ... 1 hour wait seemed acceptable anyway but i had to wait 2 hours to have the 'Genius' tell me they have to give me a brand new one ... problem solved but this is a first in my 20+ years of owning Apple devices that i experience poor quality manufacturing AND poor quality service in the same instance - disappointed
At first day, it was no problem till i update the software to 11.1.1 (via OTA cuz it’s only for 50mb) on the second day.
After update, i played with it and suddenly the screen is “blip” and the green line showned, with all the screen appears to be more “greenish” and brighter than usual.
From my examination, maybe i could concluded something about the green line.
1. It happens from a defect hardware, but it triggered by a false electricity, so always charger with the original cable and adapter.
2. the OLED screen is more fragile than IPS, anything wrong/bug with a software could also triggered the same problems. Always put the display brightness on the middle (or not full brightness). It make sense cuz the true tone display follows the circumstance when we are. If it’s warm it tends to be brighter. If you pull out the brightness it will over contrast and make the OLED “popped”.
3. In some cases i’ve seen on twitter, the green line starts to recover when using the wireless charger. It seems something about radiation from it, or the wireless charger recovered the false electricity inside the hardware.
CMIIW...
I got my unit replaced this weekend. So far so good.
My green line did not appear until the next morning that I got it. I did charge my phone with a non Apple charger but one I have been using for over a year.
Hello there,
I suggest you bring your iPhone X in for repair. Apple will mosy likely replace the device free of charge, since this seems to be a widespread issue.
www.support.apple.com will give you repair information.
Cheers!

I have had mine since the day they were released and thank goodness I have no green line but I am trying to find out if it was certain batches or from certain factories I’ll let you guys know what I find out .
I had my phone about 12 hours before the green line appeared. It was there for about 3-4 hours then disappeared. So far about 12 hours without it. Not sure, what if anything I should do about it since it is not showing the green line at the moment.

Apple used Samsung OLED Screens not LG in the IphoneX, so I am not sure where the blame is. Do any of you guys have the 256gb with the green line, and is anyone using Verizon service. CDMA not GSM?
I was at Apple store in Berlin too last Friday, they had no iPhone X there but next morning they had luckily one for "repair / replacement" and some for people who wants to buy the new iPhone X.
First on Friday one Engineer in the store told me that this issue with the green line "is a known software bug“.
And will be fixed with an IOS Update.
But i don’t know, I can’t believe him personally.
I have now since Saturday my replaced iPhone X and I hope it not come to the old problem.
Just a question, did any of you with his issue use wireless charging? When charging on a qi charger the phone gets quite warm. When reading about Samsung Galaxy S7 issues with pink line on their displays, some mentioned that it might be due to melting the glue for the flexi cable connected to the oled screen.
I had the green line along the right screen edge of my 256GB Verizon iPhone X.
It started two days ago but this morning it just disappeared, and the screen looks fine again.
I use a wireless charging pad from Anker to charge at night.
I was in contact with Apple Support two days ago and they requested a photo of the problem to escalate to their engineering support and they will call me back tomorrow (they said it takes 1-2 days to hear back from engineering support, but with Thanksgiving this week we moved the call to Friday). As I have AppleCare+ for the phone I expect them to exchange it and send me a new one.
For now, I’ll take it that the screen seems to have magically fixed itself. Maybe it’s a software/firmware issue that they can roll out a permanent fix for? Would beat the hassle of
exchanges.
Hey there. I received my new IPhone X on Friday. I was so excited to open it, but as soon as I turn it on, Bam! Green line down the left side. However, mine isn’t only plagued by that, half of the screen shows green when I’m on something with white or black, and the whole screen ***** when watching something very black. Does anyone else have this problem too? Also the camera quality is very poor. I don’t know what the issue is. I am going to swap it out tomorrow, just was curious if anyone else has this problem as well. Thanks!
I took my phone to the apple store today to resolve my screen issues. Long story short I ended up returning the phone, they said they could replace the phone but I would not be able to purchase apple care after the fact? Anyone know if this is actually true. I feel cheated. I spent $1200 on a phone and they were beyond rude and offered no actual recourse and let me walk out of that store without a phone at all!!!
I`ve bot a new Iphone X. And I was glad to use him. But in a few weeks i found out a green stripe at the right side of the screen. Collors were poor. I went to the nearest service center and asked guys to fix this problem or to change him on the new one. But they told me that i should go to the Hong-Kong and change it there, because they can`t do anything because i`ve bot it not in my country (I live in Israel). I want someone to help me with my problem and change it on the new one
Absolutely incredible and unbelievable.
After green line appears, contacted apple immediately. They asked me to take to phone to be replaced.
As I live in Belize, there is no apple representative in here.
Asked a friend to take it to Miami during his holidays vacations, and he gladly took to the apple store, where even with my number case, photos of the problem, refused to change my phone for a new one, once I made a rest factory and in that precisely moment the green line did not appear.
Is this a joke ?
Sell a so expansive phone with a known problem. Prove that the problem is happening. Travel from another country and be treated like this ?
After more than 10 years dedicated to apples products, first big disappointment.
I had this same issue as well with a bright green line going down the right side of my screen 2 weeks after having the phone. I called it into Apple Support and I took it into the Genuis Bar the week after (earliest appointment available). They were willing to repair the display for free but needed to keep the phone overnight. I couldn't leave my phone overnight so they ended up giving me a replacement phone instead. I am located in Toronto, Canada.
Seriously - some small number of iPhone X displays are failing.
There's no need to post photos here, just visit your local Apple Store or servicer and your phone or display will be replaced under warranty.
Simple as that.
