iPhone X touch screen not working

My new 256GB T-Mobile Spay Gray iPhone X has a non responsive touch screen. After initial boot up, I could not swipe up to begin setup. After numerous resets using volume up, volume down and then holding side button, I was able to use touch screen and start setup process. I then had numerous issues during setup (slowness, iCloud backup restore failure, freezing). Did an erase and reset up via Reset in Preferences > General and everything seemed to start working normally. After about 6 hours, the touch screen stopped working again. Have not been able to use phone again even after a erase and restore in iTunes.

Local Apple stores have no stock for replacement, AppleCare wants to put a $1150 hold on my credit card to ship an advanced replacement or have me send this one back and wait a few weeks for a replacement. None of these are good options si Co I already traded in my iPhone 7.

Anyone else having touch screen issues or is mine a one off lemon?

Hey, that may not be true. From what I've seen (I had mine replaced):

1. The store (I bought mine online and went to the one closest to me) should be able to help you find and reserve a new one. I brought my phone in and showed them it didn't work in order to get authorized for a replacement. Although they did not have an exact same phone in stock, they were able to locate and reserve a replacement for me at another store in LA. I only had to drive 20 miles to that store and gave my name to the check-in person (the one with an iPad out front). I waited for 5 minutes before somebody came to me with a new phone to exchange. They can do this, and maybe you need to insist that they help you. It's a new phone - It's their responsibility to give you a product that works!

2. I believe replacements are in a different packaging from what one would get if they were to buy a new one. The box they brought to me was a plain white, small, flat cardboard box that only fit a phone and no other accessories. Definitely not retail packaging. They're just lazy and brushing you off if they tell you that you need to proceed as if you were getting a new phone. You do not deserve this!

Just got my 64GB from Verizon and I'm having similar issues where button presses don't work at all or with differing effect. I'll try closing the app, powering off and back on, etc. where the phone may work temporarily but it starts up again at some point. I live in Houston and may go between AC/Heat and the outdoors, but the temperature swing is never greater than 10 degrees Fahrenheit. There's another thing that happens in apps like Messenger, where there may be scrolling involved, and the last item will randomly scroll "up" several "pages" like I've hit the Ctrl+Home buttons on a keyboard. Sometimes I can't even scroll down enough to get where I need to be before it happens again, like the phone is taunting me... Not sure if they're related, but I've never had as many phone problems as this and I've been a long time iPhone guy. I'm about to do a full delete and restore which I hate to do because I don't want to lose my settings and data but feel I have to at least try to see if it's hardware or software related. I feel like I might get better service taking it to an Apple store but will try Verizon support first since I purchased through them.

I absolutely feel your pain. I travel through 3 countries with my brick, and for about 35 days, before being able to replace it. Truth be told, it *****...Period, full stop. No doubt about it. Doesn't make up for your current mood, or the fact that you don't have your phone to snap vacation pics, but its a piece of hardware, and then tend to fail. There is an Apple store in Mexico. My suggestion is that you walk in, explain the problem and hopefully you can walk out with a new unit. Good luck. Let us know how it goes.

This is the first time I'm so upset when experiencing a shiny device from Apple. I have never met this frustrating situation since I first bought the iPhone 3 from Apple after watching the keynote from Steve without hand-on a real device. Ordered my iPhone X from T-Mobile (unlocked version) and brought it back to Vietnam to activate. I was so excited to get it unboxed and played with the iPhone X. Then, I suddenly got stuck at "Swipe Up To Unlock" screen. No touch input is accepted. The side buttons and volume up+down is still working but I can't never unlock my iPhone successfully. I searched around the internet and found out I'm not the only one being affected by this issue. Bad luck for me that we have no Apple Store around here in Vietnam, only Authorized Apple Care is existed. Chatted with support team at Apple and they suggested me to make an appointment with local Authorized Apple Care service and get the device in service. Did try everything (including updated to iOS 11.2.1) and they can't get it working. Now, I'm waiting for around 2 weeks to get it processed (hopefully I'll received a new replacement unit). Hmmm...not a good feeling at all!

Same thing just happened to me. I'm from India - I've a silver 256 unlocked phone. The screen randomly stopped working while I was still using it. Tried the hard reset, restore to 11.2.1, nothing. The problem is that there is no apple store here - just resellers, so they will point you to service centers. Went to one yesterday and they told me that they had to send it to Apple - I'm guessing the closest apple store is in Singapore? - so it would take 3-4 working days to either get my phone fixed or get a replacement. I said I'd give it in tomorrow, given that it's new years and all. Really hoping I get a replacement in a week. Such a bummer, given how expensive the **** thing is! I've been an iPhone user from '07 and have never encountered such disappointment. Have to say though, when it works, it's such a gorgeous piece of tech.
