iPhone X touch screen not working

My new 256GB T-Mobile Spay Gray iPhone X has a non responsive touch screen. After initial boot up, I could not swipe up to begin setup. After numerous resets using volume up, volume down and then holding side button, I was able to use touch screen and start setup process. I then had numerous issues during setup (slowness, iCloud backup restore failure, freezing). Did an erase and reset up via Reset in Preferences > General and everything seemed to start working normally. After about 6 hours, the touch screen stopped working again. Have not been able to use phone again even after a erase and restore in iTunes.

Local Apple stores have no stock for replacement, AppleCare wants to put a $1150 hold on my credit card to ship an advanced replacement or have me send this one back and wait a few weeks for a replacement. None of these are good options si Co I already traded in my iPhone 7.

Anyone else having touch screen issues or is mine a one off lemon?

Hey, that may not be true. From what I've seen (I had mine replaced):

1. The store (I bought mine online and went to the one closest to me) should be able to help you find and reserve a new one. I brought my phone in and showed them it didn't work in order to get authorized for a replacement. Although they did not have an exact same phone in stock, they were able to locate and reserve a replacement for me at another store in LA. I only had to drive 20 miles to that store and gave my name to the check-in person (the one with an iPad out front). I waited for 5 minutes before somebody came to me with a new phone to exchange. They can do this, and maybe you need to insist that they help you. It's a new phone - It's their responsibility to give you a product that works!

2. I believe replacements are in a different packaging from what one would get if they were to buy a new one. The box they brought to me was a plain white, small, flat cardboard box that only fit a phone and no other accessories. Definitely not retail packaging. They're just lazy and brushing you off if they tell you that you need to proceed as if you were getting a new phone. You do not deserve this!

As to William's assertion that Apple stores reserve stock for warranty replacements that is simply not the case. Neither of the Apple stores near me have available stock and I was advised if I wanted to exchange the phone for a replacement I would have to go to the store and wait in line along with people who want to buy a new one.

Please give us the employee name and Apple Store location that told you this so they can be retrained on this.

Service replacements are an entirely different stock than retail phones; in fact they come in blank boxes, not normal retail ones.

I've had the same issue, my friend had the same issue too, must be common after all the OLED are from Samsung !!

Apple have always made the simple tasks more complex than they need to, simple things as faulty phone, just replace it, rather that do a refund, then tell you sorry no more phones in stock..

The customer service is not what it use to be..

Apple is just to complex to understand...

Well, I have joined the club within the last 40 minutes. Just sitting here on my couch using my phone normally. Set it down for a moment and I receive a text message. Pick it back up and it's completely unresponsive to touch. Let me note, I live in Florida, it is currently 74 degrees in my house so this is not a "cold" issue. I am stuck on the lock screen. At first, I was able to click on the camera icon down in the bottom right corner and have it respond but that has also stopped now. Nothing. My face recognition even stopped working. I tried resetting...still nothing. This is great :-/

I went to Apple store today and they all act like they don’t know about this issue, and acting like they are doing big favor to me replacing New iPhone X and when I said Apple already know about this issue and he is bit rude to me and we saying usually ( as of Apple company is his father’s ) We don’t replace phone you don’t understand. **** they don’t understand I replaced twice screen tempered glass cost $20 and car parking $5. I

will not replaced tempered glass couple of days and see i don’t trust now.

I think I’m loosing respect for Apple, This is gone with Steve Jobs RIP.

My phone's touch screen occasionally becomes unresponsive. I'll set my phone down for a moment, pick it back up, and BAM, no longer responsive touch screen. I have the latest iOS update (11.1.2) and this happens inside buildings, not in cold weather.

I received this phone about 2 weeks ago. I want to bring it in to swap it for another new one. However, I doubt it will be that easy, considering my unresponsive touch screen happens once a day, or every other day. When it happens, it takes annoyingly long for it to become responsive to touch again; 10-15 minutes. So, they'd probably deem it 'working', unless I was lucky and it happens right when I walk into the store.

Rebooting the phone (via top vol. bottom vol. and holding main button) does not fix my problem. It will reboot the phone, but, my touch screen will still be unresponsive.

It's pretty annoying --not sure what to do about it.

I too am having the same problem on my iPhone X which was delivered two days ago. The screen freezes up, Face recognition wont work and the swipe up to go to the main page wont work either. When you try to swipe up, the screen will move a bit but wont take you to the main menu page. Tried shutting the phone off and the power off slide bar wont work as well. When I received a phone call the answer command wont slide to accept the call. About all that works is the other access shortcut screen and even that one takes some doing to open up.

There are a few things you should know:

1. If you ordered from T-Mobile, your phone is probably locked to their SIM. I know this to be true as I ordered directly from T-Mobile (vs Apple) and spent over a week trying to get it unlocked through T-Mobile. I'm a bit of an expert in this topic (locked iPhones from T-Mobile)

2. In hindsight, you (and I) now realize that it's best to buy the phone from the authorized, in country reseller, for warranty purposes. I ended up traveling through 3 countries with my dead phone and finally getting it exchanged in Dubai (minus FaceTime as it's not authorized in that country)

3. Count your blessings in that your phone died and you will probably get an unlocked phone from your local Apple authroized tech shop. Otherwise, you would be stuck with a brick...
