Odds are your bluetooth device was connected to your previous phone. Here is what I did to correct this problem.

On your old phone, go to it's settings and go to bluetooth and disconnect the device or forget the device.

Consult the owners manual of the device you're trying to connect, or look it up on the internet to get the instructions for that device to pair with bluetooth.

Follow the instructions on how to pair that specific device. Some want you to have your iPhone X turned on and searching for bluetooth devices, and some do not, so follow that manufacturers directions as if it is a brand new device that has not been paired yet.

This worked for me, and all is good in my iPhone X world now.

Have raised this with support.

After following steps of disconnecting the Bluetooth device to the car and removing previous connections of old phones , I still had the issue. I was advised to ‘force reset’ my iPhone X after doing the above again.

Force reset process

Tap volume up button, then quickly tap volume down button, the press and hold power button until Apple logo comes on screen.

After completing these steps, phone connected and the stayed connected to my vehicle.....seems fixed now, after 2 journeys the phone stayed connected to vehicle.

Worth a try for some with the same issue.

I had the same problem. I cleared all prior Bkuetooth connections on both devices and then did a hard reset on the phone. Once I did the hard reset, my phone connected without any further problem and it now connects perfectly to all Bluetooth devices.

To perform a hard reboot on the iPhone X, press and quickly release the Volume Up button, then do the same for the Volume Down button. Follow up by pressing the Side button, and hold until the display suddenly shuts off — about 10 seconds. The screen will be black and then the phone will restart. Once you've restarted you have to turn on Bluetooth and then attempt reconnection with devices.

What kind of wireless headset? Did you turn off Bluetooth on the 5s, put the headphones in pairing mode then attempt to connect to your X?

This should become a sticky deggie. I've suggested this so many times to people as they often don't understand that if their headphones are paired with one iPhone and then they try to pair them with another iPhone, especially if the first phone is nearby and on, they won't get the headphones to pair with the new phone. Most headphones on the market can only be paired with one device.

For those who missed it, the problem appears to be caused by your old device and new device having the same name. So either delete both devices from your car or rename your phone. If you is a Bluetooth headset or the like, renaming your phone is the best option. I believe what is happening is due to our Bluetooth devices trying to connect to the old one since you performed a backup and restore. The above mentioned fix will solve your problem.

Here’s what worked for me

Delete all Bluetooth devices from Bluetooth settings.

Update all applications

Update iOS version

Back up iPhone to iTunes (use the wire it’s faster) use encrypted backup and your account logins are preserved.

Disable find my iPhone

Restore iPhone using iTunes.

Restore from the backup you made.

After the restore, Make sure you are using a strong WiFi signal so your apps reinstall quickly

Set up your Bluetooth devices.

This fixed my connection issues with my car, AirPods, and a speaker.

Good lick

I also had problems with my x

it locked allways in and out

i went to apple hamburg they did the Analyse and found no blue tooth mistake.before getting a new phone we tried one option.

did a full clear of the phone, my back up was on the computer at home.

so no apps or anythink else was existing on the phone.

i connected the car mercedes e class 212 , and..... no problem since one day.

i now slowly bring the apss and all the stuff back on phone, i saw on this way there is a lot of rubish apss i dont need.

my idea is now that there was somethink in my back up which caused the problem with bluetooth.will come back here with the information if the mistake comes again.

regards

andreas and sorry for the english

If you continue to dface issues even after the 11.2 installation I recommend to

1. back up your machine

2. reset iphone entirely back to factory settings and set up as new iphone

3. delete all BT connections / devices in your car or where you are using it

4. try with the "factory reset" phone.

Not working:

5. if possible, try with someone elses Iphone

If that is not working you have a solid startiung point for a device change @ the Apple store.

11.2 helped me with Porsche PCM 3.1 in a 911 4,76 SW release and partly in BMW 2016 7 series, whereb APPs like audible are still disconnecting every now and thn. BMW knew about this and will install a sw update. Wireless charging works well in the BMW

Indeed much effort for such an expensive device.

No, it could very well be the devices.

Bluetooth updates are supposed to be backwards compatible but that depends on the manufacturers of both devices implementing standards correctly.

Since the iPhone X has newer Bluetooth chips, it could very well be true that those manufacturers did not properly implement their Bluetooth stack.

Make sure you do whatever you need to to reset your other devices and have them forget all existing associations before attempting to connect again.
