Hi djtwok,
Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. I understand that you are having some issues with the flash on your iPhone when it is cold out. I'm not sure how cold we are talking, but you may want to make sure that you are using your iPhone within the range outlined below:
Environmental Requirements
- Operating ambient temperature: 32° to 95° F (0° to 35° C)
- Nonoperating temperature: −4° to 113° F (−20° to 45° C)
- Relative humidity: 5% to 95% noncondensing
- Operating altitude: tested up to 10,000 feet (3000 m)
iPhone 8 - Technical Specifications - Apple
Use iOS devices where the ambient temperature is between 0º and 35º C (32º to 95º F). Low- or high-temperature conditions might cause the device to change its behavior to regulate its temperature. Using an iOS device in very cold conditions outside of its operating range might temporarily shorten battery life and could cause the device to turn off. Battery life will return to normal when you bring the device back to higher ambient temperatures.
Keeping iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch within acceptable operating temperatures - Apple Support

Thats a bunch of bs! vapor freeze? What service center? Apple Store its in warranty. Isolated issue?????
Apple store as well cumstomer care are saying that they dont consider discussion on Apple support page.
Me too. I was outside right now in 40 degree weather trying to take a picture with my boyfriend and the flash wasn’t working.
Got an appointment at the Apple Store in Munich tmro. Do you think I should even bother swapping the X or will the replacement do the same?
Makes no sense to replace the phone. They swapped out my iPhone 8 after they replaced the camera/flash but none of that helped.
Posting here is not the way to get it read by Apple.
Did you contact Apple?
I send it to Apple already. What is the way then? Enlighten us!

Take care ~
I am also having this problem with my brand new iPhone 8+ with 256 GB of memory. It is now -4°C in Washington DC, and my camera flash is not working at all. However, my flashlight is working fine.
Got my X swapped new one has the problem, too
I did... and they told me I was using the phone out of the specified temperature.
I also faced the similar issue on my iPhone 8 Plus during my recent visit to Canada. I hope thy fix this in the next iOS update.
Me neither! Just with iPhone 8 and X. When I go outside (low temperatures) the flash doesn't work at all.
