Trying to install Firefox HELP PLEASE!!!!!

I downloaded Firefox, but the disk image won't open. It says it cannot mount. Do I need to install Mozilla, too? Why won't it work. I am going crazy. Please help. Thanks

Macbook Pro, Mac OS X (10.4.8), 2.16 GHz 1 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM

Maybe I have to drag one of the 2 icons that resulted from the download to either applications folder or hard drive? The 2 icons are: The Firefox Logo, and the download disk image. the one with the Firefox Logo says it has 0 kb.

Right, when you double-click on the .dmg file, after accepting the terms you get a window with the firefox icon on the left. Click and drag that into the Applications directory, and Firefox would be installed.

THANK YOU, ETHANEE. I think I did it, but I have to tell you that that is the stupidest download I have ever seen. Who would have thought one had to click the graphic image. They need to explain that. Although I'm relatively new to Mac, I have been in the computer business for 23 years, and that particular action would never have occurred to me.

Yes, even though they tried to make it seem straightforward, somehow it doesn't quite turn out the way they want. Perhaps people are too used to non-Mac machines.

Ethanee. Again thanks. You were a great help. They need to highlight that area of the screen or give some explanation. I clicked all over the thing and didn't find it until you suggested it.

Anyway, it's up and running (on it now). The bummer is that one of the things I hoped would open in Firefox wouldn't as it needs a Shockwave Plug in that is not native and needs to be downloaded manually through Rosetta. I may or may not do it, as I am exhausted from a day of trying to download Firefox.

The good news is that I have a 2nd browser now, and that's probably good.
