I went to my local Apple store, told them what happened. They took me right away with no appointment (next available appointment was a week later). They had me speak with a manager. Then, They brought someone from the back room. This was the person who would handle my repair. They offered a two tiered solution - calling it a “false touch” issue, they were going to replace the screen. And, if that didn’t work, they were going to give me a new phone.
They replaced the screen in about 45 minutes. It has worked fine ever since.
I recommend going to the store - capture the craziness on video if possible (I used someone else’s phone).

I had the same issue with iOS 11.4 and i resolved it this way (it never came up again):
This is not the normal procedure used to shutdown your iPhone (Volume Up button + Lock button) because it will also empty the cache.
Once you have powered off your iPhone DON'T POWER ON FOR ~30 MINUTES this step made the difference.
The ghost has vanished
The so-called "ghost touch glitch" is a hardware problem. First, a lot of users have found that removing their screen protector fixes it. If it only occurs when the phone is plugged in you have a bad lightning cable; if it happens when not plugged in your screen digitizer is defective. Make a genius bar appointment and get it replaced: Genius Bar Reservation and Apple Support Options - Apple
As I posted immediately above your post:
If it only happens when you have the phone plugged in, you have a bad cable. Replace the cable.
if it happens all the time you have a bad digitizer in the screen. Make a Genius Bar appointment to have the screen replaced. Genius Bar Reservation and Apple Support Options - Apple
There is a very slight chance the problem is software. Restore iOS to factory settings using iTunes (Restore your iOS device to factory settings - Apple Support). If the problem is still present, see above.
Doesn't anyone ever read a thread before posting to it? The solution is right above your post, but I will save you the trouble of scrolling up and post it again:
If it only happens when you have the phone plugged in, you have a bad cable. Replace the cable.
if it happens all the time you have a bad digitizer in the screen. Make a Genius Bar appointment to have the screen replaced. As the phone is only 3 months old there's 9 months to go on the warranty. Genius Bar Reservation and Apple Support Options - Apple

Had my iPhone X for about 2 months, and it can’t go more than 8-10 mins of straight use without it moving by its self and disabling me from using it. The bottom half inch of the screen where the touch bad is is useless when this happens. RIGHT NOW IT MOVING. Like I didn’t pay a $1000 to not be able to use this phone. Disappointed. Unhappy. ******.
Make a genius bar appointment (Genius Bar Reservation and Apple Support Options - Apple) and they will either fix or replace your phone. As has been posted many times in the thread you didn't take the time to read before posting.
Note that some screen protectors can cause this problem. So if you have one you might try removing it first. Also, if it only happens when plugged in you have a bad Lightning cable.
As you apparently didn't read the thread you posted to, I will summarize it:
If it only happens when you have the phone plugged in, you have a bad cable. Replace the cable.
if it happens all the time you have a bad digitizer in the screen. Make a Genius Bar appointment to have the screen replaced. Genius Bar Reservation and Apple Support Options - Apple

There are only 2 part numbers for the iPhone X. One for China, one for the rest of the world. Last time I checked there were over 100 million iPhone X models sold outside of China. So unless you are claiming that over 100 million phones have this problem the same part number is irrelevant.
Apple will fix any phone you contact them about. Which is an almost vanishingly small percentage of all of the X sold. This thread has 94 posts, and about half of those are advice about how to fix the problem. So 50 phones out of 100 million is 0.00001% of all iPhones.
Add to that the fact that this is a symptom, not a problem definition. And there are several possible causes of the problem, which is illustrated by the number of different posted solutions. These are:
Only the last of these is an actual hardware defect in the phone, and it can be fixed by Apple replacing the screen. As all iPhone X's are still in warranty that is the solution of choice. Why should Apple replace 100,000,000 phones because 50 of them have a problem? Or even 500? Or 5,000?
I called AT&T, they sent me to the Apple Store and they did diagnostics. Suggested I reset to factory and do a restore, which I did. Still no improvement. So I called AT&T again, they connected me with Apple Support. Again the said I should do a factory reset (but not a restore - they said an "old setting" was causing it). I resisted 4 times saying without all my apps and photos it's like a dead brick. Finally they agreed to do a cross ship and sent out a brand new iPhone X.
I've not had any problems since then. Wish you the best. Keep pushing back, insist on a new phone.

I'm sorry, but there was nothing in the link you posted that remotely sounds like the original problem. For those of us having the same problem as the OP, your link was really a waste of time, and I can't figure out at all why you posted it.
I’m sorry that you didn’t bother to read past a first attempt at quantifying the problem posted 8 months ago. If you had you would have learned that the solution is to make a Genius Bar appointment to get your phone with it’s hardware problem replaced. That was also on the first page of the thread.
Hello! Not sure if you’re still having the issue, but I was having an issue with the ghost touch as well. For me it seemed to great progressively worse. I took my iPhone X to the Apple Store (with no appointment) and they replaced my screen for me right there, at most cost as it’s within warranty. It only took an hour, but I haven’t had an issue since then! Hope this helps, if you’re still having the ghost touch problem!
I SOLVED THE PROBLEM!!
open: settings> general> accessibility> then either turn the 3D Touch off or switch the sensitivity to firm.
So far it’s working for me!
Finally. And I don’t have to pay and wait for my phone at apple
I got this issue resolved by having apple reolace the screen. The night before I recorded the problem happening and I also went through apples online support process first. Then after their support determined that I needed to take my phone into a store I did and at the store they ran their diagnostic thing on my phone (which of course) did not show any problem. I had to debate one of their support people and showed them the video of my phone messing up until they finally agreed th replace the screen. Since the screen has been replaced I’ve not had the issue happen again.
Also so I talked to a manager in the store and they knew exactly what I was talking about, so apparently this issue has been happening to a lot of people.
They replaced my wife's phone at the genius bar appointment. Coincidentally, a co-worker had the same issue recently with her iPhone X and they too replaced her phone. Both were under warranty.
It is a super irritating and weird glitch! I ended up doing a hard reset, then erase with instal of backup, then erase and set up as new device (all through iCloud) then I think I did an erase and back up through iTunes (I think I was told by apple that it would take off any software that might cause the problem) and finally was in a city with an apple store... they exchanged it for a new one and I set it up from a back up and haven't had any problems since (about three weeks now). Was told if I start having issues again, then it was a software not hardware issue and should erase and set up as new :/
I wonder if there is a batch of iPhones with this as a hardware issue...
