iPhone X Yahoo! email does not update

This just started happening. I get a good amount of emails throughout the day in my Yahoo mail box and now it is saying no new messages. When I go to a desktop, there clearly are new messages. I have tried different WIFI accounts, cell data, restarted the device, hard closed the mail app and uninstalled and reinstalled the email account. When I reinstalled it, it updated to show current emails, but will not update again.

This worked for me. Thank you. I had to go to yahoo mail in my web browser, pull up my security settings, and enable 'Allow apps that use less secure sign in.' After this I was able to re-add my yahoo account to my Apple mail app.

I can't be the only person who has the same issue. My iPad and work 4s work fine and the emails update but on the iPhone X it doesn't.
I've tried everything and I'm at my wits end as constantly deleting and reinstalling the account obviously has a limited fix.

What I don't get is why (for me) this is limited to just the iPhone X; annoying as it's my primary phone too.

Wanted to add to the chorus — I am having the same issues with Yahoo mail & iOS mail app. Have done same steps as others on the group: delete & reinstall, create account manually, reboot phone, update, etc.... I am on a 6s, so I don’t think this is a X issue. Extremely frustrating.

I have had 2-factor authentication on my yahoo account for some time. I have tried using a specific password app & logging in via the 2 factor authentication & have had problems with both. Are all of you 2-factor users? Wondering if that has anything to do with it.

This definitely is unique to the iPhone X as I haven’t loaded my backup onto this phone. I’m pretty tech savvy and have tried everything listed here but to no avail. Here’s a list of things that DONT WORK:

-

The lesser security option on yahoo

-readding the account in the setting

-changing the outbox settings

-changing fetch to push

Even if I can get it to refresh, it saying downloading 1 out of #s of unread emails and then they never show up. If I find a solution I’ll definitely post it here.

PS- NEVER switch your phone for a “new” one covered by AppleCare unless you absolutely have to because they are 100% reburished ones. I got a “new” iPhone 6 with “touch disease” a month before my AppleCare ran out and when I finally noticed the problem it was too late.

Wow....I can't believe that my brand new, $1400 iPhone X cannot get email. I have tried every suggestion in this thread and I cannot read my Yahoo mail. $1400!!!! I have regressed to the days before a smart phone.

Thank God Apple has a 14 day return policy. I am going back to the Apple store right now and returning this phone. It is simply inexcusable for such a massive bug to exist for months. I need, NEED, my Yahoo mail daily.

What a total disaster.

I could not be more displeased with Apple now.

What to do if already updated via WiFi. This situation is very aggravating to say the least. I tried all the other steps but already updated the iOS through WiFi.

I have tried everything possible to get my new iPhone X to work with Yahoo mail. Nothing I have done has succeeded. As a result, my new iPhone is useless for email. Hard to believe but true. I never knew that going from an iPhone 6 to X would result it me losing total access to email from my phone. Incredible.

I'll keep watching this thread but I have lost all hope that my iPhone X can do simple email.
