This works for a few days, then the problem sadly reoccurs

Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I see that your iMessage contacts appear out of order. Let's look into this together.
First, make sure your iPhone has been updated to the latest iOS version -- Update the iOS on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
If the issue persists after updating, the following information may help isolate the issue further:
1. Does this happen with multiple iMessage conversations?
2. Do you have Date & Time set to Automatic under Settings > General > Date & Time?
3. Do you see a red exclamation mark or "Not Delivered" alert under any of the messages you send?
Cheers.
It reverted back to the problem for me yesterday too. Damnit. It is so hard to follow a conversation. I think I'm going to have to turn off iMessage completely.
I’m curious if anyone with an iPhone 8 or X is experiencing this issue ?
I have the same issue and have done all of the updates. Hope it gets fixed soon. Pretty annoying.
It’s not just iMessage. Same thing happens in Skype on the iPhone. It’s seems like it’s a date/time issue in the latest iOS. I haven’t checked other messaging apps.
I’ve been having this issue since some time in December and it doesn’t seem to go away.
Apple Support, please react or at least respond
@cougarwoman, thank you for the detailed instructions!
Did the procedure, will monitor for the behavior.
Still thinking Apple should provide an update with the fix..
Actually ... the problem is across all platforms associated with iMessage. Please do some research before your post again.
There is ZERO relationship between IOS and MacIOS internals.
The problem is related to something external to IOS/MacOS.
SERIOUSLY ???
Have we devolved SO far that you guys are arguing over wording on a support forum ????
Cougarwoman .... have you had the issue since you did the procedure Apple recommended yesterday?
No problem since then!! On either the Mac or the iphone. I think it worked!!
Do you recall what they had you do on your Mac? You gave instructions for the iPhone, but not the Mac.
When I did it on my phone, it fixed it on my Mac, too.
