Messages app badge icon not showing up.

Have had this problem on and off for two months. Updates help for a day or two and then the number stops showing again. I have done everything suggested on Apple forums, but nothing is a permanent fix. I contacted Apple Support and was told there is no fix for this problem at this time!!!!! Come on Apple.....fix it!

Well, even though I had done the reset before this time it worked. Keeping fingers crossed. This really has been an odd problem.

After updating to 11.2.2 Messages worked fine for a couple of day on my iPad. Yesterday I lost the badge icon and sound again. Weird.

I am having the exact same problem.

notifications are showing on lock screen, banners and history. Badge app icon is not.

settings for iMessage has all notifications turned ON.

I just started having this problem this week. Do you have any confirmation it is a bug? I have an appt set up tomorrow at the Apple store Genius Bar and I’ll cancel it if it is a known bug....

Same issue on my iPad Pro 9.7" with iOS 11.2.1 ... when a new iMessage arrives, the temporary banner alert (from top

of screen) appears, but the other two alerts I have set (sound and red badge app icon) are not working. Quite annoying (starting to miss messages), please fix.

Same thing has happened to me on iPad with 11.2.1 Apple support has no idea what to do and acts like they are not aware of the problem. Also my keyboard letters are much smaller and they can’t figure that out either

This is so frustrating. Then when you call for support they aren’t even aware of it. Why aren’t they reading their inquiries from customers and telling support how to fix it or when it will be addressed. Why do we even bother with these darn updates.

Slight correction to my previous reply ... upon further testing, I've discovered that I am getting both the banner alert and the sound alert/chime, but am consistently not getting the red badge icon, as others are reporting.

I had to reschedule for tomorrow. I wasn’t feeling well yesterday and today we have a blizzard (I live in New England). I hope that I’ll be able to go tomorrow, but it depends on how bad Mother Nature wantsto smack us!

Your results are consistent with most on this thread. The phone iOS is fine. The iPad isn’t. And Apple does not seem to be acknowledging this one bc chat and phone calls with support were met with confusion. I have an appt with my local Genius Bar tomorrow, if they are open (I live in New England and the storm that passed through today left a bit of a mess. If power is on in the mall tomorrow I’m sure they will be open). I’ll post after my appt.

I don’t want to jinx you, but did you do any specific troubleshooting to fix it? I did everything. Logged off my Apple ID, disabled messaging, reset everything, rebooted. The o key thing I didn’t do was restor the iOS. Last time I did that it was a nightmare and I don’t want to go through that again!!

I've done that before too. Meaning: logout of Apple ID, turn off messages, several hard reboots. Nothing has worked here. Don’t get confused though please, what I’ve done, it’s not in that specific order and combination. nothing seems to work for me.

This is a highly annoying problem. And it really appeared out of nowhere. It was working fine after the update to iOS 11. Then suddenly stopped. But I’m pretty sure it only stopped with 11.2, but I’m not sure because I’ve restored the os a couple times and do not want to do that again.

I am going to try this again, and hope that it will magically work, since I have tried this before. I am taking it that you did not do a hard reboot, but just shut the iPad off, waited and then it just magically started working. Fingers crossed because this really is annoying and I would hate to think that Apple would purposely not address this.

I can't help but think of them finally admitting to the fact the updates did slow down the phones and people were buying newer phones hoping this would help with the battery issues, when in reality, their older phones were just fine. I would hate to think this is happening under a different circumstance to get us to buy a new iPad in the hopes that everything will work fine after we do.

Apple...please, we are paying customers and deserve more than a "we don't know". Read your message boards please.
