Music App on lock screen

Please make this go away! My lock screen is considered PERSONAL DOMAIN ... The reason we were given the lock screen background was to personalize our phone, and I, for one, do NOT appreciate APPLE taking the perogative to make it part of their own. I DO NOT USE ITUNES, nor is my phone a music device. Please remove this. Thank you!

I know what is on my screen, and I have NO music apps on my phone as they were all deleted. I do not use music apps ...still the 'Now Playing' controller IS showing with no music apps installed on my phone. It does not even show a song title on the controller as is should if/when a song is selected, it is blank. So ... I AM NOT playing music and the controller IS there. My only alternative is to wipe my phone and hope that another Apple glitch will be resolved by another radical response to an update that will 'improve' my joy of owning an iPhone.

I've closed every app and restarted my device repeatedly and this continues to happen to me too. It's annoying as crap! I've looked at multiple threads reporting the same issue with no solutions. Anyone know how to get someone at Apple to address the issue or provide solution, since it's pretty obvious nobody else has figured out a fix?

I finally contacted Apple support and found what appears to be an actual fix (vs. just a temporary work around, like restarting the phone).

We ended up doing a complete reset --

Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings

BUT BEFORE YOU DO THAT - check Notifications to see if "Show on lock screen" is turned OFF

Settings > Notifications > Music app > Show on lock screen

This was only suggested to me after doing the full reset (which is tedious and requires reconfiguring all your preferences, so try the other step first, in case it's enough to fix the problem)

This change in settings still allows the music/podcast etc to show player controls if the phone goes to sleep while you're using that app, but it won't show up if you're not using that app and won't come up every time you start the car and the bluetooth connects

I hope this helps.

I guess that I’m one of those “petulant” whiny babies that wants my brand new iPhone that I paid $800 for to work the way that it should. What a ridiculous response from Miss Smartie Pants... I too am having the same issue, and can’t for the life of me figure out how to get it to go away. And it absolutely is annoying, if for nothing else than the fact that I can’t see the photo of my children that I have designated as my lock screen wallpaper because the big fat music controller is blocking it. I have no music apps open. I did listen to Pandora yesterday while in the gym, but I have since closed out all apps, restarted the phone, and yet still have the Music controller on the lock screen, without any way that I can find to make it go away. I’ve gone into setting and turned off the ‘show on lock screen’ option, AND turned off music notifications altogether, but that didn’t solved anything... Apple definitely needs to put out a fix for this, because first world problem or not, it IS annoying.

Did you see my comments from Jan. 12? I was have this issue for quite some time but was able to fix the glitch by working with Apple Support.

Restarting my phone or deleting the music app only fixed it temporarily but I've had no more issues since doing the following:

I did a "settings reset"

Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings

AND check Notifications to make sure "Show on lock screen" is turned OFF

Settings > Notifications > Music app > Show on lock screen

This change in settings still allows the music/podcast etc to show player controls if the phone goes to sleep while you're using that app, but it won't show up if you're not using that app and won't come up every time the bluetooth connects to something (which seemed to be the trigger for my issues)

I hope this helps.

Yes, I saw your comments. I’d like to fix this issue without “resetting” my phone…

The Music app is not on your lock screen, nor are any other apps. Apps also have nothing to do with your lock screen wallpaper.

If you are playing audio from the Music app or any other app, a Now Playing controller will appear on your lock screen. You cannot remove this. If you are not playing audio, the controller will not appear.

That was altogether unhelpful. Anytime I listen to music (or even plug in my AirPods) the music player is forever part of my lock screen. The ONLY way to make it go away is to restart the phone. Then it disappears until the next time I listen to music or use my AirPods. Right now, I am not listening to music on any device and the annoying player greets me every time I pick up my phone.

There needs to be a fix for this.

First, you’re not speaking to Apple here. This is a user-to-user support forum. And if when Apple is in here, they’re not here to look at posts from a petulant child. I’m sure they just skip over this stuff laughing at your temper tantrum.

Second: The player on your lock screen is built into the iOS and is activated when audio OR video is played, through a dedicated app OR Safari. You cannot remove this feature, however it is supposed to go away once that audio is ended. You may have to actually close the app/webpage using audio or video first.

If you can’t remove the player from your lock screen, you need to troubleshoot. Force close all ope apps, restart your iPhone, and finally restore as a new device and see if the issue continues.

And finally, if you don’t like the way the phone works and it’s features, get a different one. You are not required to have it, and no one is forcing you to use it if it’s not working for your lifestyle.

I have been having this issue for about the past 2 months also. It’s so irritating. I have completely uninstalled the music app and I do not use iTunes.

I took my phone to the ATT store a couple weeks back, and they couldn’t figure it out either. We really need a fix for this- one that doesn’t involve completely resetting our phones.

Feb 8, 2018 6:58 PM in response to KON228

You do NOT need to reset your notification settings. In my own testing, it appears to be a bug from the most recent Apple update. To fix this issue, just soft reset your phone (aka power it down). Once you power it up again, the Music app no longer appears on the Home screen.

Boom. Just works again.

(I'll post this in other threads as well, since this seems to be a pervasive problem affecting.. well, everyone.)

I’ve done a soft reset multiple times in the past week (most recently today) and the issue keeps occurring. The lock screen is temporarily fine, but the music display eventually keeps coming back. It’s getting very frustrating having to continually turn my phone on and off. I wish Apple would just correct the issue properly with an update.
