Please make this go away! My lock screen is considered PERSONAL DOMAIN ... The reason we were given the lock screen background was to personalize our phone, and I, for one, do NOT appreciate APPLE taking the perogative to make it part of their own. I DO NOT USE ITUNES, nor is my phone a music device. Please remove this. Thank you!

I finally contacted Apple support and found what appears to be an actual fix (vs. just a temporary work around, like restarting the phone).
We ended up doing a complete reset --
Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
BUT BEFORE YOU DO THAT - check Notifications to see if "Show on lock screen" is turned OFF
Settings > Notifications > Music app > Show on lock screen
This was only suggested to me after doing the full reset (which is tedious and requires reconfiguring all your preferences, so try the other step first, in case it's enough to fix the problem)
This change in settings still allows the music/podcast etc to show player controls if the phone goes to sleep while you're using that app, but it won't show up if you're not using that app and won't come up every time you start the car and the bluetooth connects

Don’t be so confident - I have the exact same thing going on and have absolutely no music apps on. And it IS on my lock screen. It’s incredibly annoying. I used to be able to get it to go away for a short time by restarting my phone but now it’s on all the time.
condescending, whatever. i just hate new stuff from any vendor / provider just showing up in my space which i design and protect vigorously.
we pay SO much for these cool devices - they should act the way WE want them to, not the way THEY want them to.
there are LOTS of alternatives, and most of them are awesome.

Apple. This has been going on far too long for there not to be a fix. Phone iPhone 6S is current on software 11.3, music apps all closed, allow on lock screen is off and still this irritating music player in my lock screen for no reason.
As the “premier” phone manufacturer this should not be happening.
I agree. I tried all steps and none of them worked. Yes, a hard reset will get rid of it, but pops right back up when I connect to Bluetooth. I haven’t done the “reset all” step, but I don’t want to have to reset all the settings I’ve got how I want them. Funny thing is, is that this doesn’t happen with my iPad. I get the music app on the screen when I connect with Bluetooth, but when I stop using Bluetooth it goes away. Hopefully this will get fixed properly soon. Seems simple, when not connected to Bluetooth, don’t show music app.
I have the “Now Playing” controller on my screen and I have NOTHING PLAYING”! It will not go away no matter what I do. I am not an idiot, so please don't speak to me as one. I have closed everything on my iphone and yet this is on my lock screen. Now, any ideas on how to get rid of it? I have had iphones for many, many years and have never encountered this problem.
If you're right, my music app is playing on its own and seems to be out of my control. I don't know know how to stop it.

Agreed! I do not want to reset all of my settings to correct this issue. Apple needs to come out with a fix ASAP. I get so irritated every time I look at my lock screen!
Thanks for the solution. It turns out that once I went to the notifications I was able to solve this annoyance. I don’t recall turning on that notification so that’s odd.., thanks agsin

Not true. I have all music turned off. All notifications turned off. Bluetooth off. It’s still in my lock screen.
