replace battery appointment

How do I make an appointment for replacing my iPhone 6 Plus battery?

It used to be easy to make a Genius Bar appointment. Now I have to jump through a bunch of hoops only to be left wondering how I get to the appointments. Still haven't found a way in.

1. Call the local store you want to go to

2. Keep saying store rep until you get menu options

3. DO NOT CHOOSE OPTION FOR GENIUS APPT>

4. Choose Recent Purchase (Option 3)

5. When you get live person, make an appt.

Hi jb,

If you want the most efficient service, especially with everyone rushing to get their battery replaced suddenly, call Apple Support. Let them do the work for you and get everything set up so you only go in once.

They will gather your info, run a quick yet thorough diagnostic, order a battery for you right then and send to the store of your choice. That store will then email you within approximately three days with status. Most commonly, they give you a date to come into the store by to get replacement done. Less common, they will notify you if battery isn't in yet, when it's expected and explain how and when they'll follow up once they receive your battery.

Easy peasy :)

Anywhere else, look on the main apple.com page under "Support".

Take care ~

"One would think that Apple would call, text or email to notify you, but one would be wrong."

They do email you after the battery is received.

Process for those who can't get into a store appt or for other reasons:

1) call Apple Support

2) Give them your IMEI # & identifying info

3) They will run a remote diagnostic with you

4) They then ask for location of your choice

5) They send the battery order for your device

straight away to that location

6) When the store receives your battery, they

email you, usually within 3 days, with a date

to get battery replace

by. No appt necessary

once you get that

notice

I'd also show about 15-20 min early so as not to

feel rushed, allot time to log in, and get settled

overall.

- Regarding the password, that's always been a requirement when bringing in your device to be

serviced along with bringing in your ID

- They also advise you to turn off FMIP and to

backup your device prior to appt

Hope that helps clarify ~

Hey, that’s a little over the top. Seriously?

I’ve owned Apple products since 1985 and they are the best designed, best built, best supported products on the market.

Having difficulty finding how to make a Genius Bar appointment is a far cry from your hopeless cry for help.

It's an old thread, but just a tip from someone who has been through it.....

If any customer can go into a specific Apple Store, ask to speak to the person who accepts Genius Bar check-ins (kind of the concierge there). That person can take appointments for a two-week period and there's no website to navigate or person on the other end (after 25 minutes on hold) trying to talk you through fixes before looking up appointment times. All I did was explain my issue (including what device), and I was shown what appointment times were available. I needed no Apple ID, just my name and a phone number - although they accepted my email address in case they needed to contact me that way. This is the most painless way to set up an appointment, but of course only makes sense if the Apple Store isn't hours away.

The answer from Apple was I could try going to a store that was some 50 miles away on a Friday evening at rush hour, or keep trying to get an appointment online locally. I just kept the support page open and kept retrying to find open appointments a few times a day while I was on my computer. I was able to get an appointment a week out this past saturday at local Apple store this coming weekend. It really should not be so hard and time consuming.

iPhone Battery and Performance

Power Mgmt for iPhone 6 through 7s batteries

A Message to Our Customers - Apple

This is an iOS 11 power management problem that will be fixed in the next release. Apple has announced a battery replacement program through Dec. 2018 to replace the battery for $29. This applies to all iPhone 6 and iPhone 7 models and later.

  • "Apple is reducing the price of an out-of-warranty iPhone battery replacement from $79 to $29 - for anyone with an iPhone 6 or later whose battery needs to be replaced, starting in late January and available worldwide through December 2018. Details will be provided soon on apple.com.
  • Early in 2018, we will issue an iOS software update with new features that give users more visibility into the health of their iPhone's battery, so they can see for themselves if its condition is affecting performance."

Not certain how this newer Apple support page links work out;

because I've not had to use Apple Genius so far. They may be

able to call you back, or chat, or who knows; depending on the

region where you reside may make a greater difference.

The above site page shows two different links, software and hardware.

There had been an App for iOS to set Genius appointments at Apple.

However if your iOS Device or iPhone fails, that isn't an answer either.

Good luck & happy trails! 🙂

I’ve spent a couple hours trying to get through the maze as has many others.

For example from another - One post had 5000 me too

You have a simple link “directly” to making appt PLEASE SHARE.

lol - I know Apple is here because besides changing my ID they generally remove my posts. So read quickly.

Impossible for me to try to get an appointment for over a week now, tried at all hours. After multiple attempts to get on chat with support (which they say will be about 2 minutes wait), and waiting half hour and then getting disconnected...I finally was able to get someone to call me. Prior attempt to request calls kept saying to try later. The support person basically said he could not help me. He says appointments can only be made for next 7 days, and you just have to keep trying to see if any open up each time I try. I asked him why he cannot make me an appointment, even if three weeks from now. He said, not possible , that I could provide my suggestion to apple/feedback if I liked. I did that.

My iPhone 6+ only holds a charge for about 3 hours the last several weeks. Unbelievable poor customer service response to highly publicized issue. Very dissapointing for a long term Apple customer. Maybe time to consider Android.

Apple only schedules appointments out 7 days for battery replacement. They seem to have removed the ability to schedule one without talking to support. I tried that last evening. I spent 15 minutes speaking to a support rep who walked me through various setting to extend battery life. (things I have already done) I kept explaining battery life is not my main issue, it is the performance slowdown. Finally I got fed up and said your wasting my time, can we please just schedule an appointment. The result was there was nothing available in the next 7 days. Total waste of time.

I was able to get four appointments for four devices using the above steps. I know it also worked for another user on the forum. But need to talk to local store not 800 support.

On the other hand, Apple may be ramping up their defensive actions instead of ramping up their support.

I also have a pending BBB complaint. If enough people file complaint - Apple may do something. Interesting to note they have already lost their “A” BBB rating.

I don’t understand why Apple would want to alienate so many users. It has to cost Apple more in labor costs fooling around, than to just swap the batteries.

Our little business/family has about 20 devices, we’re just waiting for them to die - to switch one by one.
