Why are text messages disappearing

I too have this problen & do not have too many text messages. I tried temporary & persistent. I turn my phone off at night. The message will be on lockscreen till I try to unlick but is never deluverex to messages just disappears. I sm nos trying turn notifications off on lovkscreen & airpkane mide at night. I am not happy with this iphone 6.

My wife’s is having same issue with messages from iPhone users - sees a notification but no message - then message shows up hours later.

She is having this describes issue as well.

Please somebody fix this. Tired of hearing about it

I have the same situation. Or very similar:

- often when somebody sends me one message (SMS) (I have indeed noticed it with somebody sending me sms-s from Android but this might be a coincidence), and then sends me another message before I go to messages and view them in messages app:

- the SECOND message is visible in a thread but the first is NOT. Even though the notification for the first message was visible on lock screen.

I have also noticed that sometimes the old 'first' messages suddenly re-appear in a thread after a while.

Same issue with iPad. I didn’t notice who the message was from, just the text which made no sense because it was asking me to tell someone this person was in their way and I don’t know who they were referring to. Wondering if they sent text then deleted it before I unlocked and went to messages. So the notification was on lock screen but actual message had been deleted once I got to messages app. Don’t k or if full texts are delivered and received into the messages app while locked or if just a brief header is received until unlocked.

Hasn’t been happening for long I suspect it’s since 11.2.6

Hardware: iPhone 6s

iOS: 11.2.6

Carrier: TELUS

This may work but it is super annoying to have to do all the time & with the money one spends on Apple phones I am not accepting that I can NEVER turn off my phone!?

It is not a carrier issue as I have a different carrier. It seems to be happening to iPhone 8 & earlier. HELLO APPLE ANYONE LISTENING & TRYING TO HELP HERE?

Totally agree. I don't want to nor do I keep my phone on all the time. Again I wish Apple would address this quickly. I have lost 4 messages in one day!
