Why are text messages disappearing

My wife’s is having same issue with messages from iPhone users - sees a notification but no message - then message shows up hours later.

She is having this describes issue as well.

Please somebody fix this. Tired of hearing about it

I have the same situation. Or very similar:

- often when somebody sends me one message (SMS) (I have indeed noticed it with somebody sending me sms-s from Android but this might be a coincidence), and then sends me another message before I go to messages and view them in messages app:

- the SECOND message is visible in a thread but the first is NOT. Even though the notification for the first message was visible on lock screen.

I have also noticed that sometimes the old 'first' messages suddenly re-appear in a thread after a while.

Same issue with iPad. I didn’t notice who the message was from, just the text which made no sense because it was asking me to tell someone this person was in their way and I don’t know who they were referring to. Wondering if they sent text then deleted it before I unlocked and went to messages. So the notification was on lock screen but actual message had been deleted once I got to messages app. Don’t k or if full texts are delivered and received into the messages app while locked or if just a brief header is received until unlocked.

This problem that you are having MAY be occurring due to you turning off the phone before the message is sending, OR, you can change your iMessage settings to "persistent" which may help.

Same here. I also hear the text come in! Where are the responses now? Anyone solve this? I was looking right at my phone when a text notification came in and poof no text in messages.

Same thing happens to me so I have now put my phone in ‘plane’ mode at night rather than switch off. Which network are you on. I’m with 3. Trying to see if this is network or phone issue.

Hasn’t been happening for long I suspect it’s since 11.2.6

Hardware: iPhone 6s

iOS: 11.2.6

Carrier: TELUS

It is my guess that you have way too many stored text threads delete them and you’ll see that your Phone Won’t do that anymore cheers.

This may work but it is super annoying to have to do all the time & with the money one spends on Apple phones I am not accepting that I can NEVER turn off my phone!?
