iPhone x - water damage??

My new iPhone x got black screen. the phone is working, but screen doesn't, I went to Apple and they told me that my phone got a water damage because you can see water inside the back camera lens,

the sad thing is - I didn't even use the phone in water, a day before it's stop working it was a raining day and the phone got few water drops, I thought the new iPhone x is water resistant, now they want to charge me for new phone,

can I do anything here??

I have the same issue too.

I took it in a 3 ft pool to take pictures, and never submerged it.

My phone stopped working.

Now I'm told I have to pay half the value of the phone to get it replaced. It's an iphone X which is around 2 months old.

You would think an IP67 rating would mean something to Apple. I'm an Apple user since first gen and this is the first time they've been disappointing. A phone that costs so much can have such poor quality. Older Samsungs have a similar rating and have no issues being submerged.

No, I can't delete your comments only the moderators can do that. I didn't even report your comments as I found them very amusing on a day when I badly need some amusement. And since I didn't delete them I'm guessing no one can clearly see what I'm doing.

There are lots of other sites out there where you can post your thoughts and rants. You failed to read the Terms of Use you agreed to when you signed on here. When you join somewhere else be sure not to make that mistake twice before you agree to something. And in case you haven't noticed you can still get the Infowars app in the App Store. But considering he operates an entertainment site not a new site (his words not mine) that isn't exactly the example I'd use if you think you are speaking the truth.

Exactly.....I think Apple's statement that the iPhoneX is "water resistant up to 1 meter for 30 minutes" is ridiculous.....it is very misleading. There is no such thing as "water resistant up to 1 meter for 30 minutes"....this would mean waterproof (otherwise submerged up to 1 meter for 30 minutes) for most unknowing customers....especially when you see further claims and photos of people taking selfie photos underwater! Really?! Waiting for a class action suite here.

You will be waiting a very long time. Apple has no control over pictures and photos of people taking underwater selfies any more that they do of people dropping iPhones to test them. Apple's statement is that the iPhone X meets IP67 lab testing and one of the items included in that standard is testing at 1 meter for 30 minutes in still water.

All of this comes from ratings for watches and has been around for quite a long time. So have warranty claims, denials and lawsuits.

I had a similar problem, My X splashed and stopped working, I took my phone to the store and they said I had no guarantee for contact with water, they opened it and showed me that I only had water damage from 1 side only,

I explained that by common sense, if it is only wet on one side was not submerged, and advertising says that in theory you can submerge 1 meter for 30 minute, but clearly it is a lie

Same problem, my IphoneX randomly appeared with a green line down the screen, took it back to place I purchased it and was first accused of having dropped it (I hadn't) and then I paid $85 to send it away to be checked for replacement or repair. I have now been told my phone has water damage! I have never had the phone in a pool, in a shower, or had anything spill on it. How can my 4month old Iphone X which supposedly has an IP67 rating have water damage!? Tried to argue the point and I'm just told it's not covered by warranty, absolutely ****** off. They want to charge me $900 for repair!!!

I think some of you might have a defect iphone from start ... like a lot of people said here IP67 is for more than just rain ! So it supposed to be at least a bit resistant ... My iphone 7 drop in water like 2-3 time ... and it still working great ! But my iphone X the first week i got it drop in the sink and now it wont turn on... the water resistance shouldn’t be that weak ... i think my issue was a physical issue because i couldn’t close the sim card tray well... but apple told me that they can’t prove it ...

I bought the iPhone X also within the first month of owning it, I had a water damage issue! I was washing my hands in the sink and my phone fell in and got splashed on it immediately stopped working within 12 hours.

I want to the Apple store and they said they would not replace it because it was submerged after speaking to a manager and telling them it was not submerged in explaining that their website sells the phone as IP 67 scenic can go underwater 5 ft for 30 minutes! They tried telling me that was not the case and it’s only to be splashed upon which I stated is exactly what happened and it still didn’t work they did hook me up and replace the phone as a one time deal I would recommend that Apple get their stuff straight! My only other issues that I’ve noticed everybody’s rear camera flash lens seems to crack!

I recently purchased a new iPhone XS and took to the local pools for spa and the phone just died so I thought the battery flat but, when got home to recharge the phone didn’t work?

Apple ‘s statement that, the iPhone XS is water resistant and water proof upto to 2 meters is not correct and misleading information. Apple should take care ownership of error made to maintain its good faith in the brand...
