I think the problem is not wether apple cover warranty on phones with liquid damage, wich is ok if its stated like that, but the real problem is wether they are actually IP67 or not, since a IP67 water resistant mark, should RESIST at least these kind of accidents described in the thread, if not, it is not IP67, wich is a misleading communication and wrong specs, or is a problem in the assembly, which in both cases is manufacturer fault... therefor they should responde. Theres a clear glitch and identified problem on the iPhone X and they should address it, and compensate those who has been forced to pay for their problem (again, or wrong specs and not really IP67, or problem in the assembly)

To quote again:

Splash, water, and dust resistance are not permanent conditions, and resistance might decrease as a result of normal wear.

We don't know what specific wear characteristics affect the certification and what wear the phones that were damaged were subject to; I don't think anyone was complaining that their phone was splashed as they were taking it out of the box for the first time and was instantly rendered dead.

I had an issue with a month old iPhone X. Initial discussion in an iPhone Store told me that water damage was not covered. I pointed out that it was specified as IP67 so should be good for immersion. I was then told to contact customer services which I did. Stating that the specification was on the apple website. I was asked to send in images of the device for evaluation by the engineers by a senior customer services representative. Five days later they have agreed to replace/repair the device.

I got problem with the face id & apple support told me because of water demage, i actually realized that samsung note 8 is better quality than Iphone X, because Note 8 has been proven it’s really water resist.

Unfortunately, as a apple loyal user, i very very dissapointed and regret that i spend for such an low quality product without any peace of mind warranty

But it is advertised as being able to withstand rain and even “immesion” (lol @ u) under very shallow water for up to 30 minutes. U dont get the IP67 rating if its not somewhat water-resistant.

Ive dropped my iphone x in the water. And it still seems to be working fine. I dropped it in the toilet (lol @ me) so i then had to wash it under the sink for 30 seconds max. I also regularly take my phone in the steaming hot shower for no longer than 30 minutes. But mine is working ok.

Clearly Apple cannot figure out who really did not SUBMERGE their phone beyond the allowable limits of an IP67 rating, but the original poster claims that it got hit with a few drops of rain. He could be lying. And by taking the phone apart, a trained technician should be able to tell, granted the adhesive they can ALSO be inspected. But i doubt they can check the adhesive. So in short, they can’t really tell what the real problem was. Was it the customer? Or the adhesive?

If it was the adhesive , the Law requires apple to stand by their claims under their own warranty. Since it is clearly poor craftsmanship. And the guy was sold a bunk phone.

If the adhesive was fully intact, and i don’t think there is a way to really check that (at a store level anyway).....then clearly the guy needs to pay up for a new phone. He submerged it beyond the stated IP67 limits to allow water to seep through the cracks of the adhesive.

In any case, advertising that its IP67 water resistant and then turning around and saying you can’t warranty water damage should not be able to hold weight. If they want to advertise it, they should put their money where their mouth is.

I feel a class action law suit coming on. This is their “gorilla glass” *** job all over again.

My next phone will be a Samsung. But i do wonder WWSD...

No, I can't delete your comments only the moderators can do that. I didn't even report your comments as I found them very amusing on a day when I badly need some amusement. And since I didn't delete them I'm guessing no one can clearly see what I'm doing.

There are lots of other sites out there where you can post your thoughts and rants. You failed to read the Terms of Use you agreed to when you signed on here. When you join somewhere else be sure not to make that mistake twice before you agree to something. And in case you haven't noticed you can still get the Infowars app in the App Store. But considering he operates an entertainment site not a new site (his words not mine) that isn't exactly the example I'd use if you think you are speaking the truth.

Exactly.....I think Apple's statement that the iPhoneX is "water resistant up to 1 meter for 30 minutes" is ridiculous.....it is very misleading. There is no such thing as "water resistant up to 1 meter for 30 minutes"....this would mean waterproof (otherwise submerged up to 1 meter for 30 minutes) for most unknowing customers....especially when you see further claims and photos of people taking selfie photos underwater! Really?! Waiting for a class action suite here.

You will be waiting a very long time. Apple has no control over pictures and photos of people taking underwater selfies any more that they do of people dropping iPhones to test them. Apple's statement is that the iPhone X meets IP67 lab testing and one of the items included in that standard is testing at 1 meter for 30 minutes in still water.

All of this comes from ratings for watches and has been around for quite a long time. So have warranty claims, denials and lawsuits.

I had a similar problem, My X splashed and stopped working, I took my phone to the store and they said I had no guarantee for contact with water, they opened it and showed me that I only had water damage from 1 side only,

I explained that by common sense, if it is only wet on one side was not submerged, and advertising says that in theory you can submerge 1 meter for 30 minute, but clearly it is a lie

Same problem, my IphoneX randomly appeared with a green line down the screen, took it back to place I purchased it and was first accused of having dropped it (I hadn't) and then I paid $85 to send it away to be checked for replacement or repair. I have now been told my phone has water damage! I have never had the phone in a pool, in a shower, or had anything spill on it. How can my 4month old Iphone X which supposedly has an IP67 rating have water damage!? Tried to argue the point and I'm just told it's not covered by warranty, absolutely ****** off. They want to charge me $900 for repair!!!
