Mail Preferences blank after latest OS X update

I went through all the steps below, that I found in a similar post.

"depending on wether you have iCloud services on; ever used dot mac or the length of a gray and white cats tail the mail preferences may have been stored in several different places including (but not necessarily excluding other places):

term> find ~/Library/ -type f -name 'com.apple.mail*.plist'

~/Library/Application Support/CloudDocs/session/containers/com.apple.mail.plist

~/Library/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist

~/Library/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail/Data/Library/Preferences/com.apple.m ail.plist

~/Library/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail/Data/Library/SyncedPreferences/com.a pple.mail.plist

Quit mail, move these into appropriately named desktop folders (so you can tell which one goes where);

Launch mail (wait for it to rebuild its db...); (Preferences window should be find now.);

Quit mail; put the com.mail.apple.plist files back to where you get them. Launch mail."

I can still not access my preferences. I get a blank page with "general" in the header. I can now select my signature within the mail, but as I need to change something in that signature, I really need to get into preferences. Any ideas, anyone?

Hello pezluna888888,

I see that you're unable to access your Mail Preferences after updating the software on your iMac. I can certainly understand your concern, and I'd be happy to help.

Let's start by having you start up the iMac into safe mode and see if the issue remains:

Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac

If the issue remains in safe mode, the next thing you'll want to try is testing on another user account:

Hello pezluna888888,

Thanks for getting back to us and trying out these steps. If the issue does not remain when you use another user account, then you'll want to follow the steps under the section titled

"If the issue doesn't happen in the other account" in the article that was provided on how to test on another user account.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

I have the same issue on two Macs upgraded to macOS High Sierra. Has anyone found a solution for this?

My Apple Mail app works, but when I try to open the Preferences window from the Mail menu, it is completely blank.

I don’t want to delete plist files in case I lose my mailboxes or accountable in Mail. Is there a way to solve this without losing my data?

Thanks.
