Does the AirPrint feature in High Sierra support the draft printing option

I have a MacBookAir running Sierra 10.12.6

I just got a new Canon printer Pixma TS6120.

The AirPrint feature in Sierra does not support the draft printing option.

Canon does not and I was told by a support tech will not create a proprietary drive for this printer and Mac.

I am compelled to print Normal or Best which uses a lot of expensive Canon ink.

The ink after marketers who produce inexpensive compatible cartridges have not caught up with this model yet.

My question is this:

Does the AirPrint feature in High Sierra support the draft printing option?

MacBook Air, OS Version 10.12.6

Not unless Canon implements it, and apparently they're not interested.

After all, that is their business model. Beware that using cheap ink may reduce the life of your printer. They're on to that too. One day it will permanently refuse to print, sentencing the printer to an early grave. When that happens, Canon will blame your cheap ink. Don't ask me how I know.

To John Galt....

This is not an answer to jackdawart...

I am jackdawart but apparently I have two apple IDs and every time I try to use one or the other I get hung up....

and have to get a new password or something else goes wrong

Thank you John.

I appreciate you prompt response that is very helpful.

Some years ago I believe that there was some kind of regulation or industry standard that prevented Canon and other printer manufacturers from doing that very thing - i.e. preventing the use of non OEM inks.

You are right though...

that is exactly what happened to my last canon an MG5722 but no apparent indication re:the ink,

it first quit duplexing, then just crashed.

I have been using Canon's for 25 plus years.

I shall now try to find a company with a better business model.

If it is appropriate for you to give me some suggestions, I would be grateful.

But, that may be beyond your remit.

Any, thanks for the helpful answer. Jackie
