Macbook Air restarts when watching Youtube videos fullscreen

Two days ago, I was watching a YouTube video fullscreen when my laptop (Macbook Air) suddenly restarts and sends me to the login screen. I tried again, but the same thing happened. I can watch Youtube videos okay without fullscreen and I haven't tried watching anything on another video player yet, but this happens only on the Chrome browser. It works fine on Safari, but I prefer to use Chrome as my default. I haven't updated to macOS High Sierra as well.

I tried resetting my Google default systems using the answer that was given via this link, but it still occurred. Then I went into Safe Mode using this; MacOS crashes when watching youtube fullscreen

but I panicked and shut down when my laptop starting to act up when it glitched.

I also updated the latest security update I've been holding off for a while, but the problem still wasn't fixed.

So I don't know what to do to fix this.

Hey!

I've had the same problem on my Macbook Pro when using Youtube on full-screen with Chrome. I used 'Safe Mode MacOS crashes when watching youtube fullscreen' to see if my Mac would glitch (as yours did) and it did. I restarted my Mac once I had log in as said in the link above and Youtube on Chrome seems to work perfectly on full-screen and from what I've seen, I haven't lost or it hasn't damaged anything! I advise you to do the same in hopes that it works as well.

Good luck!

I was also having this problem recently on my early 2013 model Macbook Pro with OS X El Capitan 10.11.6 on YouTube and Hulu in Google Chrome. I restarted into Safe Mode as in this article: Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac - Apple Support - and tested the problem, and it did not occur in Safe Mode. I then restarted normally, and the problem seems to have been solved. I would try that again, and if it doesn't work, then maybe try some of the options listed in this older thread: macOS Sierra crashes to lock screen when playing videos on fullscreen

I hope this helps!
