ssh, sftp, MTU issues with High Sierra 10.13.2 (17C205)

I'm seeing issues with ssh, sftp, and MTU. The ssh and sftp issues are consistent, the MTU issues are only over VPN. How would I troubleshoot this?

ssh and sftp are timing out:

ssh someDomain.com

ssh: connect to host someDomain.com port 22: Operation timed out

Additionally, MTU is limited when using VPN to 290.
