garritan personal orchestra / Aria player

I've just bought Logic Pro X and I'm happy to see that the software instruments are better organized and easier to find than they were with Logic Pro 8.

Having said that I am having trouble with 3rd party instruments. Although Garritan Personal Orchestra came right up with Logic Pro 8, I can't access it with the new Logic Pro. Nor can I access my Steinberg instruments as I could before.

I have tried installing Aria Player before installing Logic Pro X and also after, I'm still seeing nothing. Maybe my old instruments are incompatible, I'm not sure how to find out.

You should know that I'm running a patched version of High Sierra in order to be able to buy the current Logic (I was on El Capitan before) and that might be a factor.

This is a known issue with Garritan and other plug-ins in Logic on High Sierra.

You may want to consider installing Sierra instead of High Sierra. I just upgraded from El Capitan to Sierra, installed LPX 10.4 and all my plug-ins, including Garritan, are working normally.

FYI, Garritan Personal Orchestra 5 also works fine with Logic Pro 10.4 and Sierra. I'm leery of updating to High Sierra because the issue with it, GPO and Logic does not yet seem to be resolved.

I checked the plug-in manager and nothing Aria shows up. Also most of the Apple instruments that are in the list are checked but the checked instruments, although the box and checkmark appear bluish, they are also grayed out (partially). I don't see any command to search for instruments. I was thinking of trying Sierra, I have 4 HDs.

The tech support at GPO says Apple resolved the incompatibility with 10.13.3 but still it doesn't work for my computer. But they have offered no further support other than by simply stating it is solved. But I now have my GPO instruments anyway! GPO at first came tied to Native Instruments Kontakt player and then they (Garritan) released their own version. When I installed it Kontakt player came right up after I got it installed (with help from Mike at NI). I think I will stick with Native Instruments from now on and forget about GPO. Their loss, but then...no I think I'll just leave it at that! Cheers!

I'll read the article, it may be that I'll have to upgrade to a later version of Garritan, but maybe I'll try Sierra first. Haven't read the whole article yet, but I will now. Thank you for the link!

Sierra will work. I have no problem with my plugs from Garritan, IKMultimedia, Toontrack, Native Instruments, etc., in LPX 10.4.

I do indeed have GPO 4 and it works in LPX 10.4 in Sierra.
