Does anyone know if there is a way to turn the "bubbles"/typing status off in iMessage?

I really hate that someone can see if you're typing back (or if they are typing back and then stop). It's none of anyone's business how quickly or slowly I (or my corresponding partner) respond to a message.

If you can turn off read receipt, hopefully there is a way to turn this off too.

Does anyone know?
