Error: To use the "java" command-line tool you need to install a JDK.

I upgraded to High Sierra yesterday and have started getting this error popping up all the time again. I remember having this issue with El Capitan, but don't remember how I resolved it. Any ideas? Quite the nuisance.

If this is a known issue, I wish Apple would do a fix/update. Or tell us how to get rid of java if we don't need it, so the annoying little box stops popping up. Is the official response that we have to download Java 6?

It's not Apple's problem to fix. You've installed software that needs Java, and a very specific version of Java. The developer of that software needs to update it so that it will use any available version of Java, or not use Java at all.

Apple has dropped Java. They seem to want absolutely nothing to do with it.

You have a program installed that was poorly designed such that it can only use the legacy Java 6 provided by Apple. The page linked by More Info has a tiny link to the download for Java 6 from Apple: Java SE 6

You should find a replacement for whatever program that is as Apple has threatened to completely remove their Java in the next OS. I think they threatened it with High Sierra, but then capitulated due to the number of users who are handcuffed to old versions of Adobe products.
