Why does my DCIM folder show empty on my PC?

There are many photos on my phone, however, when I connect to my PC, the DCIM folder shows ONE photo...that I took today! Earlier, before I took that photo, it showed "empty". I have updated Itunes and my phone is up to date. I even tried to download them on a computer that does NOT have Itunes installed with no luck! Help! I just want to clear the photos off my phone!!!!!!!
