G5 Quad Memory Controller temps

Geting to know my "new" Quad G5. I've been a PPC Mac fan for years but this is my first G5 and I'm still learning. I'm a little concerned about the temperature on the memory controller -- it's regularly higher than all the other readings, even when the CPU is cranking harder because I'm not in "reduced" performance mode. Here's an example. Most of the time the temperature on the memory controller is about 56-65ºC. I don't think it's alarmingly high but it's hard to believe it should be higher than the CPU under load. Is this normal? If not, am I making mountains out of mole hills?

PowerMac, Mac OS X (10.5.8), PM G5 Quad, 16 GB RAM, FX4500

Whether or not you could get the correct ASD 2.5.8 or 2.6.3? 'Service

Diagnostic' to then go about trying to Calibrate G5's cooling system...

may or not be of help to try and make cooling more efficient.

If the PMU or other resets, plus PRAM (and de-dusting all places inside

to include the power supply and its fan blades, etc) didn't help, try and

locate the download files for that calibration software and hope special

tools aren't also required that may have gone missing, to service this.

Of the several G5 Power Mac threads in the support discussions, I've

not found a live link to get those -- but haven't checked all options.

Some suggest to get thermal paste and take the CPUs out, clear off

the old paste and carefully replenish with new paste. Not too much.

There had been sources for original Service manuals in pdf posted

online, or some sites had hosted to let you read them in browsers.

Heat is a problem, and likely less trouble if the unit isn't LCS design due

to the liquid leaks and corrosion issues. Air-cooled seemed better off.

Sorry to not offer any radically great advice.
