But that never happens. I have the same problem as the original post, except my right AirPod won't work and they won't reset. I hold the reset button and it slowly flashes white, never flashes amber. I can hold it for 2 mins to no avail. Any suggestions would be great! Thanks!

this fixed my issue. Left AirPod Pro died in the case i guess and wasn't charging. Swabbing the inside of the case and the bottom of the pod resolved the issue as i guess it didn't recognize both pods in the case when i was holding the reset button on the back. After cleaning, the amber light flashed after the 15 seconds. And yeah the left AirPod had died and wasn't charging in the case

The only reason they won’t reset is because it doesn’t recognize both AirPods being inserted, let me clarify, the interface between the case and each AirPod, is two small copper leaf spring type contacts, sometimes those could have debris, or be damaged, if either is true, they could possibly not be seated correctly and stop it from trying to reset, this should help some of you, but I doubt it will solve everyone’s problem, if there is more I come to figure out, I’ll try to keep y’all informed, but as of now, this is all I definitely know that prevents/causes problems whilst trying to reset AirPods

My right side AirPod was not recognized and i was having the same problem not getting the amber light on reset attempts. I tried cleaning the case and contacts etc with no success. Eventually i licked the bottom that meets the contact points in the case and for some reason it connected once i returned it to the case and began to charge. I was able to reset and my AirPods are they are back to normal.

The reason you’re not seeing the amber light is because there is no connection between the Airpod and the case. Clean the metal connection on the airpod and clean the connection in the case with a wetted q-tip. If you’re sure your connections are clean and you’re still not getting the amber light, something in the hardware has gone defective

I did the fix that talks about testing one at a time and that worked for me. With the case open, wait till green light goes out then put one in at a time, green light should come on immediately. Take it out if it works and wait for green light to go out again, put the next one in, if light doesn't come on that's the problem side.

I cleaned the airpods metal strips at the bottom with alcohol and bathroom tissue, that didn't fix it.

I cleaned the charger inside at the bottom with a Q-tip and alcohol then dried it out really well, that fixed it. The one that didn't work, now works and the light goes amber charging it again.

Hope this helps others.

I had exactly the same problem. One or both of the airpads are not charged and the connection is not established. The problem is sometimes due to poor connection of the charger connectors at the bottom of the charger. The spring properties of the connection is weakened and and it wont charge the airpads. You can check the connection by pushing airpads down and holding it for several minutes. If this is the case, you can pull up some connections with a pin to charge the airpads well. I did this and the problem was solved.

My right airpod did not work and the airpods did not reset. So i wiped everything with iso-propyl alcohol but did not work. I tried so many times and no use. The light did not turn amber. I pressed hard on the airpods and tried to reset but no use. Frustrated and threw the left airpod to the ground and then it started detecting and reset done successfully. I don't know y this happened. Now 2 airpods are working :D :D

Try at your own risk. Insert the airpod untill the light turns amber or stays green for sometime.

I agree. The quality is overrated . The product is overpriced. First the right one didn’t work. Then the right one worked , but the left one didn’t. Then both didn’t work. Then I reset with Forget Device and Network reset several times. Finally it worked. Then everytime I want to reuse them, I have to reset them. Now the green light is continuous. I can’t even get the white light to occur, when trying to reset . For 300-something dollars , after only several months ?

I had this problem as well. To fix it just clean the airpods and inside their case. If this still does not work, just take the airpod out and put it back in (silly but worked for me) until the amber light comes on indicating the pod needs charging. You should do this without the working airpod in. Once the amber light turns on, plug in your case and charge the nonworking airpod for a little. The try it out.

Symptoms: left AirPod pro would not work. Followed reset instructions several times with no success, e.g. Case opened pressed and held reset button for 15 plus seconds. Light would flash white, but would not transition to amber to indicate successful rest had occurred.

Solution: removed left AirPod from case and visually inspected the bud and case for contamination, but could not see any debris. Decided to clean anyway with a cotton swab dampened (not saturated) with alcohol. Lightly cleaned the contact area on buds and the contacts inside the case. Reinserted the bud into case and followed the reset protocol and the amber light appeared indicating a successful reset had occurred. Reconnected the AirPods to my phone and the left bud now works.
