ipad pro vs macbook

Hi,

I need help deciding whether to invest in a new ipad pro 10.5 " or a MacBook. I'm going back to school and need a new devise and although I have heard many people are replacing their laptops with the ipad I'm still on the fence. If I decide on the ipad I do plan to get the pencil and keyboard but what worries me is the ability to use school programs on the ipad. I'm one of the last few people who've never have had an ipad, don't judge 😟 I just didn't need it, I had a computer and an iphone that satisfy me, and I was on break from school. The point is that I'm not sure how the ipad system works and how it might work for school. I want the freedom to use an app to take notes with the pencil but I worry that since I'll be taking statistics classes might need to use programs that don't have downloadable apps.

Besides school, I also worry about having the ipad as my only devise and depend on it to backup my phone and my music.
