We have an Asus tri-band RT-AC5300 router, and whilst performance is fantastic, it does not behave well with certain devices e.g. the Liberatone Zipp will not work correctly on the network (it is not seen by wireless devices on different bands) but works fine with a basic router. Our HP printer also does not work all wirelessly and we have had to hardwire it.
Question is, has anyone with a trip-band router tried the HomePod and does it work OK??
Yes it will. It will connect to the WiFi being utilized on your iPhone. The only caveat is *HomePod doesn't support public or subscription networks with sign-in requirements or enterprise-style deployments. See this https://support.apple.com/en-us/ht208241
Have you enabled any features for wireless isolation or guest access? These allow devices to connect to the Internet but not to each other.

Not all routers are created equal from my experience. Having separate band names can be wonderful or dreadful. Apple software is smart enough to switch networks in the home and works extremely well with multiple network names / routers in an access point configuration. Some users tend to set up multiple networks / routers where 1 router pulls an IP address from the other router and them the connected router assigns IP addresses on a different subnet. This is not ideal for having every single device see each seamlessly.
If you connect the speaker to e.g. a 2.4 GHz band, do you have any issues streaming to the HomePod from an iPhone/iPad connected to a 5GHz band, or vice versa? This is where I was getting issues, if both devices are on the same band OK, if not, an issue...
No. On either band it communicates. The Orbi system ( 3rd unit ) is has a dedicated backhaul and Daisy chain so communication within the home on either band is flawless. HomePod or my iPhone don't notice the difference. The 2.4 and 5Ghz bands always see each other. In using another Daisy Chain system like Eero or Amplifi, it's best not to keep separate names for the bands since the software is smart enough to choose the stronger connection ( 5Ghz short or 2.4 Ghz long)
Judging from a few other posts it may be necessary to turn off some router's firewalls and then turn them on again once the device is set up.

If your iPhone or iPad connects to it fine without issues the HomePod should work just as well. (since it uses all settings from the connected device)
It works with my Netgear Orbi Tri band system just fine.
It is not a question of connecting, the Liberatone connects OK to the trip-band router but does not work correctly/intermittently.
You would think so but my experience with tri-band routers is the opposite which is why I would like to hear from someone who has one...

No, guest network is not enabled. I do have other devices such as an AppleTV that work fine with my other devices. It is only the HP printer (can take ages to print when connected via Wifi) and the Liberatone speaker that give me issues... I am wondering whether if I give all three bands the same name and enable Smart Connect whether this might help?
