Setup Failed 301003

You need to perform this method of reset

Press the top of HomePod to reset it

If you can’t remove HomePod from the Home app, then you can manually reset it. To manually reset HomePod, unplug HomePod, then plug it back in. Then press and hold the top of HomePod. As you press, the white spinning light turns red. Keep pressing until you hear three beeps. If you lift your finger too soon, then you'll need to start over.

If you have an insecure wifi and or a captive wifi (were you have a username and password like at a free wifi place) then is wont set up with the error 301003. You will need to set it up with a secure wifi network WPA/WPA2 Personal.

Contact StudentCom by Chat, they know there has been complaints regarding to HomePod since yesterday. Ask them to add the MAC address manually. They either add it for you and they will unlock it and it will no long says Invalid

ps. dont forget to mention that when u add it, it says Invalid

I figure out the problem. When you want to connect to your homepod through you iOS device. You need to make sure that your device is connecting a personal wifi like home wifi or hotspot by the other phone. You can connect to some public wifi like campus wifi or neighborhood wifi. Because when you connect to that wifi, you will meet a login in page.However, the home pod can not access to that page. So it always failed and came an error 301003. Hope this will help you.

Have you tied to unplug the HomePod and turn off your phone. Wait 30 seconds plug in HomePod and turn phone on. when setting up DO NOT select "Enable Personal Requests" (this is off by default so do not toggle it on)

The apartment community where I live has recently installed business routers where it requires you log unto a website and put a username or password.

I am experiencing the same error. I have attempted my other networks WPA2 and it connects just fine. This is in fact the problem.

Had the same problem and read some web page and set it up in the Home app as a new device. That worked like a charm. The jntial setup failed like 5 times.

Alright this is what I did, my university wifi has MAC address filtering, therefore, you need to find the MAC address of the HomePod and tell your Uni to add it in, in order to bypass the setup process.

The way to find MAC of HomePod is

1. Make sure HomePod is ready to be pair (If not reset it first)

2. Connect your iOS device to a wifi hotspot sharing by an android phone

3. Once your iPhone/iPad is connected starting the pairing process with HomePod

4. The setup should complete -> On the android device look under list of device that's connecting to it

5. You should see "HomePod" press on it, It will show you the MAC address

6. Tell your network provider to add this MAC address

7. Remove HomePod from your Homekit app

8. Manually reset the HomePod

9. Connect your iPhone/iPad to the Wifi you prefer in the first place

10. Now start to pair with HomePod

Have you tried another device and or resetting network settings on the device?

I had this same problem - I restarted my phone and moved the Home Pod closer to my wifi router and it set up fine the second time I tried.
