Is there a fix for my gray bar? It used to be at bottom of screen, now it is elevated about 3inches from the bottom, covering some of my app icons.
if i do a hard reboot, it goes back to the bottom, but almost immediately it elevates itself again.

Sorry to say that is a persistent glitch with iOS11. As you found the hard reboot sets it right but not permanently.
To the best of my knowledge there’s no consistent cause, which is probably why there’s not. cure, hard to squash a bug you can’t find.
Some have speculated that it has something to do with ads but that’s just a guess.
I’m afraid all users can do is muddle through the best they cn until it is fixed

Will wait for update to ios since the last update is what caused the issue.
