When the repair is complete and while testing before replacing the drives, are the doors supposed to always try to close or do they have a latched down position?
There is no latched-down position. When the tray closes, the door is supposed to close.
Not sure, whether my plastic mechanism is fixable. It definitely sticks in the down position on both doors, even when removed from the case and after a thorough cleaning and use of lubricant.
It’s a tight fit. Mine has had that problem from the beginning. Occasionally it pops back up but most of the time I have to tap lightly on the case in that area to get it to pop back into place.
