Cracking Phone Screens?

I take great care of my iphone se, never had a scratch in it or any other device I have owned. But today, my screen cracked. I don’t know how it could’ve because I had been using it all day and would have noticed the crack as soon as it happened. I only noticed while I was laying on my bed talking to my family. My phone was currently beside me on the bed face down. When I picked it up to search something up, the crack showed up. Has this happened to anyone else and what do I do?

That's not necessarily so. You can have a very small crack some place not so noticilble, such as close to the edge. Changes in temperature, pressure or just a a small impact can cause the crack to extend. I had this happen with a watch. I banged while I was hiking. But, it was fine. The next morning, there was a large crack across the crystal.

Take a careful look at it. If it's under warranty or AppleCare then there's a chance that it can be replaced without charge if it's determined to be from a manufacturing defect. If you've ever seen a glass screen that cracked from impact, there will be little voids at the surface between the cracks where splinters have separated from the bulk of the glass. If it was a glass micro-defect (impurities or maybe just an imperceptible crack) that cracked after normal stresses (putting it in your pocket, changing temperatures, etc.) then it can manifest as maybe one hairline crack without any noticeable pieces missing.

If it's out of warranty, then Apple will replace it for their standard fee whether or not a drop caused it.
