iPhone X poor call sound with bluetooth in car

I have bluetooth handsfree built in to my car (Land Rover discovery 4) which was worked perfectly with both iPhone 4 and iPhone 6, the call sound quality was excellent. Now that I have an iPhone X the sound on phone calls is awful, with crackling and noise and is very difficult to hear clearly. I have update my phone but nothing has changed.

The bluetooth sound connection to wireless headphones is fine, and the car is still fine if I try the old phones.

You shouldn’t have to do that hey is crazy anyway is it the watch or the phone causing it ? Poor that no one tested that

has anyone found a solution to this issue yet ? im still having to put my watch in airplane mode for most of the day to make calls as needed , its getting extremely frustrating

Seeems to me the solution is to return the phones as soon as the issue comes up. Have fun reselling the phone Apple.
