Lines on Garage Band 10.2.0 Track

A friend sent me a Garage Band file that was experiencing unwanted volume changes on the individual tracks. After looking at the file, it appeared the volume changed when the playhead reached a point in the track where there was a short gray vertical line on the track. See screen shot below.

I haven't figured out how these lines get there nor how to remove them. Anybody know?

I'm running Garage Band 10.2.0 on High Sierra 10.13.3

iMac, macOS High Sierra (10.13.3)

those are MIDI events (volume control in this case) transmitted by a MIDI controller (such as a keyboard)

open GB's MIDI Draw pane, choose the event you want to edit from the popUp menu, and (in your case) drag select the control points in the editor pane and press the DeleteKey:
