How do I get it to update in simple words I'm a Android user and ended up getting this old dinosaur. To learn on and like I said LEARN So a lot I don't understand except the words SHOULD NOT HAVE BOUGHT IT LOL

Why I hate to update my IOS I have delayed uodating mu phone IOS from 12.x to latest until recently as I dislike having to re-learn familar steps in the process of IOS upgrade. Often the so called upgrade is a downgrade as programers run out of ideas and simply change things without improvements in the name of progress. Worse is when this furniture moving result in a worse off experience. My fear was not misplaced as after installing IOS 13.4 I realised the ease of editing text is now gone. Used to be able to tap and insert cursor in a word at the point for typo correction. Now the tap leads to the whole word being highlighted. It used to be that you could simply tap an insert point and slide to where you want, plus that a magnified view pops up to guide you where you finger is covering the word. This ease of editing is now gone. Apple is going the way of Microsoft where with each new version you get a worse off experience. They take away what was working well and introduce meaningless features that has no value and made things worse in the name of progress. Simply moving the furniture without improvement is not progress and we all know how reluctant users have been in moving to a new Windows operating system. Now the same is happening at Apple and it comes when people run out of ideas but still need to bring in something new in the name of progress.

This iPad belong to NYC dept. Of education - I cannot iNSTALL THE SOFTWARE UPDATE NOR THE YOUTUBE IS PLAYNG BACK I have an IPad loaned to me from Department of education, (DOE)I am trying to prepare them for the school year as per DOE text message which says ( they have some update for the IPad. I tried updating the software but it’s not allowing me to do so because (install now) is not a hyperlink. There is a new software update alert. Please help

That model (i.e. the first gen) can only be updated to iOS 5.1.1 . If it's currently on iOS 5.0.1 as your tagline says you should be able to update to 5.1.1 via Settings > General > Software Update

You didn’t exactly buy a state of the art iPad to “learn on”.

You purchased an 8-year old iPad that ONLY received one year of upgrades/updates.

Any other older, but newer iPad models would have served your purposes much better.
