Couple days ago I updated to high sierra, ever since this problem has occured. Whenever I put the mac to sleep the hard drives seem to wake up for about 20 seconds once a minute and it's so irritating and noisy (fans come on as well). I've tried shutting mac down for 15 secs and unplugging power supply, this didnt work. 😟 anyone know of a solution?
Um, in the middle of the report you posted, it says "sleep prevented by google chrome"
Google Chrome is sloppily programmed, a memory leaker, and a resource hog. With Safari 11 and the new FireFox available, there is little excuse for staying with Chrome.
thanks! I checked this and found the only thing preventing sleep was powerd. Using the terminal I found these details. Do you see anything there that could be causing this? ttyskeepawake?
Google Chrome? Shut down your browsers before sleeping your system and see if that helps.
Have you double-checked your energy settings? Could “wake for network access” be checked? Anything running automatically, like a backup app?
It was checked, I unchecked it however the problem still persists 😟 I thought icloud could potentially be running but I've stopped that now and didn't make a difference. 😟
There is a column you can add to any display in Activity Monitor called "Preventing sleep". Then you can tell which tasks might be causing the issue.
