Apple email scams

I have been receiving emails from what looks like Apple support telling me my account is locked out and it gives me a link to click that will take me to the website. When I click on the contact who sent the email, it shows up as a really random string of nonsense. I have received no less than 6 emails just this week regarding the same thing, so it seems urgent. When I log into Apples website without using the link in the email, I sign in and everything seems normal. There is no notification of my account being on hold like the emails state. I’m interested in getting some advice on what I should do about this, besides never clicking on the links in the email. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately, there isn't much you can do about scam e-mails, except forward them to Apple. Apple will always address you by your name or the name they have on file for you, not you e-mail address. If you read the e-mail, there is some questionable wording - this issued instead of this issue.

Avoid phishing emails, fake ‘virus‘ alerts, phony support calls, and other scams

Send the e-mail to Apple as an attachment to a new e-mail before deleting it.
