Apple Event: May 7th at 7 am PT
I just bought a new mercedes and was excited about the apple carplay until it stopped working and is very upsetting. I chose this option over the traditional navigation because I used my phone map over nav in my last car. I cannot get carplay to show up at all anymore.
I am planning to take it to the dealer to have it looked at but it is not super convenient and I am worried it will keep happening...
I would love any help anyone has!

Ok, I found a solid workaround. A sales guy at the dealership where I bought my car helped. From the home screen in your car (the * button to the top right of the knob), go all the way to the right to click on the ‘+ Add’ button. Click on ‘Tel’, scroll to ‘Apple CarPlay’ and click on it. This adds a CarPlay icon to the menu. Clicking on it with your phone plugged in and connected to your car through Bluetooth gets CarPlay working again. When I start my car I have to manually click to ‘Confirm to Start Apple CarPlay’, but it’s better than it not working at all. Hope this helps!!!
After much fiddling and no useful response from Apple, I noticed a reset option in the car's settings. I did that and Car Play works fine. Let's see if it lasts!
Establish a wifi connection while your car is not running and download and install the new update for CarPlay.
That will permanently fix the problem.

so where is the carplay icon?
There is no CarPlay icon. That's not how it works.
I had this happen and I had to reset the settings on the car through the menu system. You'll have to reset your favorites but this will work.

I had this problem too. I tried a new cord which didn’t work. I went into Mercedes vehicle settings and hit reset. I pluged my phone in and CarPlay popped right up

I had the same problem recently. Just reset the entertainment system to factory settings. Worked for me...5 minute job and all working fine again!
I've noticed a problem since I updated to 12.0.1, so I'd suggest 12.0.0 if you can do that. If not, I see that 12.1.0 is now available. Maybe that will fix our problems?
