iOS 11.3 - Delete Message Confirmation

The newest iOS 11.3 update enables a feature that asks if you're sure you want to delete a text message/iMessage once you choose the delete option. It's making me crazy! I tried searching through the settings to remove this deletion confirmation, but can't find anything on the topic. Is there any way to remove this feature?

Howwwwwwww. Ugh. I hate this feature. So annoying. I thought there was previously a way to turn it off and on. I need it OFFFFFFF. like yesterday. Thanks.

There was never a way to turn it off because it is a new message. And depending on whether you have iCloud for Messages turned on or not, it provides two different messages. One stating it will delete the convo from all devices (iCloud Messages), the other stating it will delete the convo from this device. That is how it works now.

The message delete confirmation is SO ANNOYING! No means to disable this confrirmation in settings is even MORE OBNOXIOUS! Come on Apple! Please provide users with the ability to TURN OFF these Ridiculous confirmation messages!! Grrrrr. Not happy, once again with Apple’s implementation of new features. Not well thought out from a user’s perspective!

You may hate it a little less when it saves you from accidentally deleting a really important text with no way of recovering it.

I have the same issue and I think it was a mistake for Apple to add this in as a feature this late in the IOS game.

These are texts, not medical records. I shouldn't have to confirm deletion of a text when my email provider doesn't even require that.

THEY'RE TEXTS!!!!!

Just because they are not important to you doesn't mean they are not important to other (lots of other) people.

Submit your feedback to Apple using the feedback link that has already been provided in this thread.

Yes, and people accidentally delete really important ones all the time. It really doesn't matter what you think as this is a user only forum.

If you don't like this (I am grateful Apple finally did this) you can provide your feedback to Apple directly via the link provided throughout the thread. Which you would have seen, had you taken any time to read the thread anyway.

Yes, they are texts. Which are admissible as evidence in court proceedings if on the original device. That can prove or disprove infidelity, or support alibis. That are commitments from businesses and relatives. The are final communications from loved ones (intentional or otherwise). That are suicide notes. Not everyone uses text messages exclusively for drivel. And once deleted there is no way to ever get them back. Over the past several years we've been running 5 to 10 posts a day from people who accidentally deleted texts, and are devastated that they can't recover them. One that sticks in my mind was the last post from a child killed in an auto accident. It was drivel when send, but had much more significance after the fact. So that may be why Apple added this valuable feature. Along with the fact that if you enable message syncing in iOS 11.4 they can't even be recovered from backups.

APPLE PLEASE GET RID OF THIS USELESS "FEATURE!"

How many people accidentally slide a message far enough to the left to delete it? Oh and then press "delete" after doing so?

Based on the number of posts asking about how to restore deleted messages, quite a few. And, now, those people won't be able to restore them from a back up.

Retain the feature sure. But give those of us who don't need to second guess ourselves the option to turn it off. I think it's a great feature, hands down. And some people probably need to have their device ask them twice if they'd like to delete something. It's like having your dad right there saying; "Son, are you sure?"

Well my dad was an alcoholic that used to like to beat on women. When the time came where I no longer needed his guidance? I turned his *** off. I should have that option on my phone.

Someone else who posted before reading the thread they posted to. If you had bothered you would know:

1. This is a user to user forum not read by Apple, so posting here is a waste of time.

2. Other users don’t care about your opinion

3. The right place to make your opinion known to Apple is on just about every page of this thread. It is left as an exercise to the reader to find it.
