Calendar Error

"Holi" just showed up on March 2, 2018 on my calendar on all of my devices and I can't remove it. Any ideas?

Apparently not.

As far as this…

…yes I have to look it up every year when I am preparing newsletters and making plans for Easter activities!

I usually can find what day Easter (or any holiday) falls on by doing a web search. Or Spotlight. Or Siri.

Good point. "Hey Siri, when is Easter" is much faster than browsing or searching the calendar for it.

"Hey Siri, when is the Spring Equinox this year" also worked.

"Hey Siri, when is Holi" did not work, however. So I guess it's more important to have it in the calendar than Easter 😉

"Hey, Siri, when is Easter and and when does spring break start for the local schools so I can coordinate the church Easter kids activity, taking into account my call to jury duty and D's work schedule and the deadline to get this design project to the printer?" ... crickets ... "Never mind, Siri. I need to have this plotted out visually anyway."

Although I can respect your opinion... there are People that we’re born in America that still celebrate this holiday. So I’m my opinion there is nothing wrong with them having their holiday on a calendar. Just like we see all the Jewish holidays on the calendar. Hindu is a religion. Has nothing to do with our country. I’m just curious why so many people are against a hindu holiday? Basically what people are saying is that their religious holidays are not important. There are millions of Americans that practice Hinduism as a religion. I hope one day everyone will start to be excepting and respectful of each other’s beliefs.

The Italian American community has been maligned by State and local governments that seek to remove or replace our Italian Heritage Day, Columbus Day. Some have already replaced Columbus Day with ‘Indigeneous Peoples Day.’

As far as I know ‘Holi’ Day is not a recognized, through statute, holiday in America. With that said I have great respect for the diversity of this country but Apple must have a clear and fair policy regarding establishng fixed (or optional) days of recognition.

As it is Italian Americans are unhappy about what is being done to them as a group.

There are NO, NONE, ZERO holidays recognized through statute in the US (there may be in other parts of America, like Canada and Mexico). So a calendar that had only holidays recognized by law would have nothing on it. The closest you can come is days that Federal Government employees don't have to come to work. And Easter is not one of them.

Apple does have a clear and fair policy, and they have expressed it by creating a calendar that reflects that policy.

What are you going on about. Columbus Day is on the Apple US Holidays calendar.

Yes, so is Indigenous People's day, but that seems appropriate to honor the millions of indigenous Peoples who were MURDERED by your ancestors.

There are no "U.S." holidays. Congress can only establish holidays for federal employees. I hope your sense of pride in your heritage does not depend on whether or not one company decides to include a particular holiday on the calendar they publish.

The 1st includes foreign holidays...the latter seems to only have Holidays in the United States, though it isn’t very complete I.e. no Memorial Day.

Just WHAT are you talking about? There are NO "foreign" holidays in the Apple US Holidays calendar. Every holiday listed is celebrated in the US. If you consider any of them to be foreign, then clearly Easter must be a "foreign" holiday also.
