Airport Extreme Missing

My Airport Extreme has disappeared. Suddenly my macbook no longer connected to the network at random times of day. The Aiport was not visible in Airport Utility on my Macbook Pro but was there on an older iMac. I factory reset the Airport Extreme and it appeared in my Airport Utility on the MacBook. After setup, it disappeared again.

The Airport Extreme is < 6 months old.

MacBook Pro, macOS High Sierra (10.13.3)

"Disappearing AirPorts" can be an intermittent or frequent issue in Sierra and High Sierra.

On the MacBook Pro......

Open System Preferences (gear icon on the dock)

Open Network

Click on WiFi on the left panel to highlight it

Click Advanced at the lower right of the window

Click the TCP/IP tab at the top of the next window

Make sure that the setting for Configure IPv6 is set to Link Local Only

Click OK

Click Apply in the next window

Now you are back to the main Network window

Click on Ethernet to highlight it

Click Advanced

Click the TCP/IP tab

Make sure that the setting for Configure IPv6 is set to Link Local Only

Click OK

Click Apply in the next window

Restart the Mac

Power off the AirPort Extreme, wait a few seconds, then power it back up

Check to see if the AirPort Extreme appears in AirPort Utility and report on your results

What is the make and model of your main modem? Is it also a router?

Is the Airport setup in bridge or as main router? (Or something else.. double NAT for example).

Has it been working ok for most of your 6months and suddenly failed.. or has this been ongoing?

After you factory reset are you reconfiguring from scratch?

Did you use the same or different name?

I would use all short names.. no spaces and pure alphanumerics.. less than 16 characters ..

Passwords also same rules but can be longer if you have paranoia issues.

Different names to your previous setup.. to ensure you can wipe out all the old names from the Mac and start over.

Plus the setup of network Bob has listed.
