Mac OS X 10.8.5 to High Sierra

I have a mid 2012 Macbook Pro, 2.9 GHz Intel core i7, 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3, that worked perfectly fine, till i decided to reboot my hard drive. I went to disk utility and erased my hard drive. I tried re-installing the Mac OS X High Sierra, it would not let me. When Open "about this mac" under the apple log. It reads "version 10.8.5.", however when i open the software update in app store its told that Mac Sierra has been downloaded. Before the reset it was running in High Sierra.

Can't update Early 2011 Macbook Pro to High Sierra Dug up my old macbook pro (early 2011) to give to my daughter. Ran the OS updates on it, cleaned it up. Then went to the app store to upgrade it to High Sierra. At which point, the app store tells me it's already "installed". Funny - it doesn't look like High Sierra. It looks exactly like Mavericks. Plus, when I run "About this mac", it reports the version as 10.9.5. Tried El Capitan, but that wouldn't download - I suppose because it thinks I'm on High Sierra. Anyone know a way to force it to reinstall?

Problem with upgrade to High Sierra I am using the Macbook pro late 2013 with macOS Mavericks. And I have made an attempt to update this to High Sierra, but after completing upgrade, the macOS on my machine shows version OS X 10.9.5, not the High Sierra. In the App Store, it says High Sierra was already installed. Could you please tell me what the problem is. Thanks

Downloads install but don't work I have downloaded the OS High Sierra, from a link on Apple Support several times - to update an early 2011 MacBook Pro from Yosemite. The software downloads and appears to install (but faster than any OS I remember). I get a message about "Software has installed succeessfully" or something similar. After restart OS version appears not to have changed. Any ideas?
