mp3 format

So I am seeing through searching on iTunes that it does not have mp3 or wav files in music. I have software that can convert into mp3 format most other formats. A problem I ran into when using iTunes before is it would download the song to my PC and I was able to convert the file format, but I could not then transfer the converted file to my mp3 player. Any idea as to how this can be done?

Apple has only ever sold AAC. Check your Sony player's specifications. Some "mp3" players can support AAC but some older ones or some that simply don't want to update their features may be mp3 only. You can use iTunes to convert AAC to mp3.

To what are you referring when you say "iTunes"? iTunes is an application on a computer. There's the iTunes Library, the iTunes Store...

What kind of mp3 player? Unless it is an Apple player you cannot use iTunes to sync the way you can with an iPod. With most mp3 players you can drag tracks from the iTunes playlist to the player open in an Explorer window.

iTunes can play mp3 but songs from the iTunes store are only in 256k AAC format.

Thank you. I was looking to purchase songs from the iTunes Store and load them onto my mp3 player. As to the make of it, it is a "Sony Digital Media Player". I could have sworn I used iTunes store before to get mp3 formats and was able to transfer them onto mp3 player, but now, once I purchase the song in the iTunes Store, it is only there on my playlist and won't allow me to drag onto my mp3 player. So I thought I had to sync my mp3 player up, which I see now is only the iPod, iPad, etc. (Apple products).
