new network service reset airport?

I had my airport (version 7.6.9) aligned to extend the wireless network.

Because I've just switched network providers, I was attempting to change the network

by choosing the using airport to extend wireless option.

However, it would not finish the last step, as in perpetual load bar never ending past 5 minutes.

So, I thought, just reset and start over, because my assumption was that the new wireless needed to be discovered by the airport. And I thought this because there was no option offered in the setup for changing the network.

So, I did the manual reset....and ... now the AirPort Utility cannot even find the airport (T.T).

I receive an error message 6753, which unfortunately appears to be unresolved in the support threads.

Please, anyone familiar with this issue?

We need the extension, not just to do our work online, but also, we are caring for our family matriarch

who is bedridden in the living room. The music via appleTV keeps her peaceful.

Thanks so much for any redirection!

This is the EE BrightBox :

  • 4 x 10/100 Mbps Ethernet ports
  • 1 USB 2.0 Host
  • Support PPPoE, PPPoA, RFC1483 Bridge
  • Traffic shaping (UBR/CBR/VBR)
  • OAM (I.610) F4/F5 support
  • Wireless IEEE802.11b/g/n
  • Wireless encapsulation WEP/WPA/WPA2
  • Wireless QoS, WMM (Wi-Fi Multi media)
  • WiFi Protected Setup (WPS)
  • Supports up-to 300 Mbps data transfer

We have the FibrePlus service with speeds up to 76mb/s; speed test shows 19 ping/56-58download/19-20upload since service initiated. The reason I need to extend the area of wifi is to support the AppleTV in the bedridden patient's room (mum) on the other side of a stone wall. Both spouse & I are able to work on our websites, create remixes of videos, even stream movies/games. But whether we are on our devices or not, AppleTV no longer receives the signal well enough to sustain it for Mum's room to have the music that helps her relax... as in: I can open Netflix or iTunes so forth but it drops in one minute or less. I had the AirPort Express set up with the previous BT router and this solved our problem. But now that I need to re-configure it to the new router/service, the AirPort Utility is not cooperating. I figure this is due to ongoing updates in iOS, firmware, etc. Regardless, I would sure like to be directed to where I can learn more detailed troubleshooting, because mum really could use the peace. Thanks for any suggestions or redirection!

haha! apologies for misunderstanding &/or reading into where you were going with that question! XD

Though I recognise folk do a wireless thang with airport express, I thought the extending of the network ALWAYS has to be via ethernet. hrmm; and thurefore, I am only utilising the airport with a ethernet. I had already been successfully doing this with my previous internet service.

Thus, wireless never occurred to me, Love. Oh! & I see you are essentially saying that?

However, my original Q is re the error message & that I have not found a resolution to this error in the support forums.

I find it odd there is no resolution & there must be a solution. So I am looking to understand what the error indicates & any ideas on how to troubleshoot this.

Again & always, thanks for any help!

The error message indicates that the AirPort Utility cannot find or communicate with the Express base station. This utility relies on two networking protocols to do both: IPv6 & Bonjour.

Try temporarily connecting the Express directly to your EE BrightBox by Ethernet. Do the same for your computer. Then run the AirPort Utility. Can it find the Express now without the error message?
