Can't partition (option greyed out) upgraded SSD on Mac OS X El Capitan

Hi guys,
Just upgraded my Macbook Air 2011 with a 2 GB OWC SSD.
I've been through all steps to recover my old backup (time machine). But when i try to create a partition in my new SSD it appears gray.

Help appreciated.

Did you boot into the Recovery Partition (command - R on a restart) to create the partition? You can't partition the disk you are booted from.
